In loving memory of our father, Virgil L. Jewett, Sr., born in Ely, Nevada on October 18, 1956, to Roy and Rene (Cummings) Jewett. Virgil passed away in his home in McGill, Nevada on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
At a very early age, Virgil developed a deep love and appreciation for the great outdoors, which continued throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and pretty much everything that took him outdoors. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his county as a Mortar MN for the United States Marine Corp. His unwavering generosity and willingness to do for others, especially those less fortunate than himself will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Virgil married Joyce Wright of McGill, Nevada on June 27, 1985. They went on to raise their five children in their hometown of McGill; Victoria Jewett of Twin Falls, Idaho, Samantha (Jesse) Ciscar, Virgil Jewett, Jr., Savannah (Antonio) Noriega and Mathew Jewett of McGill, Nevada. He was a very dedicated husband, and father and enjoyed sharing his wisdom and teaching his children all that he could.
He was very fortunate to be able to work in a field that he loved. He worked for the White Pine County Road Dept. for a total of 16 years in which he performed many jobs and completed many projects that benefited all of White Pine County.
Virgil is survived by his wife, his five children, six grandsons, Tyson, Michael, Adam, Roy, Devin, and Dalton; one granddaughter, Breana, his siblings; Vernon, Wanda, Glenna and Steven and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceed in death by both of his parents.
At Virgil’s request there will be no services. His family would like to thank the community, family and friends for all of the support given at this time.
