Walter Jay Stolk

Walter Jay Stolk, age 83 years, of Ely, NV, passed away June 14, 2013 in Ely. He was born October 11, 1929 Panguich, UT to Walter Stolk and Irene Norton Stolk.

Walter graduated from high school in Panguich, UT. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned home to Paragonah, UT and married the love of his life, Joyce Marie Halterman Stolk of Parowan, UT in 1954. They moved to Ely, NV in 1955 where Walter worked for Nevada (Isabel) Consolidated Copper Company, then Kennecott Copper Company in Ruth, NV.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Joyce on March 4, 2010.

He is survived by their two children:

Daughter: Cynthia (John) Longinetti of Ely, NV; grandson Erick Jay (Jacquelyn) Trevena and great-grandson, Austin Jon Trevena, of Las Vegas, NV.

Son: Michael Jay (Terisa) Stolk of Ruth, NV; grandson Michael Jason Stolk and great-grandson Deven of Ruth, NV; granddaughter Makaela Stolk and great-grandchildren Riley, Emerie and Aja Stolk of Sandy, UT. He is also survived by step-grandson James (Angelica) Robison of Ely and step-granddaughter, Tawsha Robinson of Reeds Spring, MO.

Walter is also survived by his brother Richard Gale Stolk of Parowan, UT and nieces: Wendy (John) Lisonbee of Providence, UT; Ann Williams of St. George, UT; and Lisa Gayle Stolk of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Walter was a member of the Ely 2nd Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Since Joyce passed away, he was often seen taking his beloved dog Sam for a ride around town. Every morning he stopped by the Silver State Restaurant then the cemetery to “have a talk with Joyce.”

We love and miss him but he is now reunited with Mom.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, June 21, 2013, with Lance Gale, 1st Counselor of the Ely 2nd Ward LDS Church officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Stolk, Jason Stolk, Erick Trevena, John Longinetti, Bruce Hunt, James Robinson.
