Douglas Sherman (Sherm) Hawkins passed way on July 15, 2013, at the University of Utah Hospital with family by his side. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He graduated from B.Y.U. in Music Instruction.
He was born on March 31, 1936 in White Pine County. Sherm loved to play the piano and entertained at the Fireside Inn, and Evah’s. He played at various events yearly and brought music and chorus to most of rural White Pine County, such as Lund, Lane City, Ruth and Baker, and taught math in Ruth.
Sherm was a bottle digger and collector. He liked taking care of his dogs (Janie Russell and Buffy) and would take them for walks and out to Cummins Lake.
Everyone will miss him dearly, he was a loving father and helped many people in the community and shared his musical talent everywhere.
He is preceded in death by his companion, Grace Rightmier, his father and mother Douglas Morgan Hawkins and Lauretta Ellen Hawkins, his wife of over 30 years, Margie Lou Hawkins, daughter, Melody L. Hawkins, Stanely Russell Hawkins, Wallace Carroll Hawkins.
He is survived by his daughter Lani L. Hawkins, son; Sherman M. Hawkins, stepson, Milton C. Steed step-daughter, Charmagne R. West, grandchildren; Lee Crumley, Crystal Hawkins, Douglas Bodger, Jessica Hawkins, Marc Carrasco (Heather), Lani Penrod (Zachary), Shalene Carrasco, Alex Carrasco, Karen Gubler (Kelly), David West, Robbie West, and numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins.
Services will be held @ the Mountain Vista Chapel, Aug 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with graveside services to follow.
