July 30

Report of an arrest in Ely – A deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and spoke to the driver, identified as 34-year-old Shaun Baker of Lund. Baker was later arrested for driving under the influence and various drug violations.

Report of found property – The reporting party found a bike, which had been abandoned near his home a week ago. The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely – The subjects were located and found to only be arguing.

Report of a burglary – The reporting party claimed a relative’s home was burglarized. The investigation continues.

Report of a dog problem in Ely – The reporting party claimed a dog was left, unattended, in the camper of a parked vehicle. The vehicle was gone when the officer arrived.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely – The reporting party claimed a man had damaged his truck by trying to move it with a backhoe. Both parties advised to handle the situation civilly.

Report of an accident in Ely – Jeff Mundwiller, of Ely, was stopped, when the vehicle behind him, driven by William Merrow of McGill, struck his rear bumper. A report was completed.

Report of a civil issue in Ely – The reporting party claimed he paid a bill, but was advised he had not. The reporting party believes an employee stole the money. The employee denied taking anything and provided a surveillance video of the work area. A report was completed.

Report of a fight in Ely – The officer found it was a couple arguing. Both parties separated.

Report of a burglary in Ely – The reporting party claimed a relative had broken into his mother’s residence and was staying there without permission. The relative was contacted and trespassed from the home.

Report of a disturbance in Ely – The reporting party complained about construction work being done after dark. The contractor was contacted and said they were finished for the night.

Report of suspicious circumstances – The reporting party said a male approached her grandkids and tried to give them money to help him look for his cat. The male was located and said he had lost his cat. The man was advised not to approach children for help.

Report of a problem with a subject – The reporting party complained about issues involving her adult daughter. The daughter was counseled on her actions.

Report of a noise disturbance in Ely – The reporting party complained about loud music coming from a nearby home. Deputies located the music disturbance and issued a citation to the resident, Clark Kelly Gleave.

Report of threats in Ely – The reporting party said a customer made threats toward him when he was asked to leave a drinking establishment. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Report of shots fired in Ely – Deputies were unable to locate the source of the disturbance.

Report of shots fired in Ely – Officers were unable to locate the origin of the disturbance.

Report of vandalism – The reporting party claimed someone damaged a building she owns. A report was completed.

Report of an attempt to locate in Ely – The reporting party requested assistance in finding his wife following an argument. Deputies were unable to locate the wife.

Report of a bad check in Ely – Two subjects claimed to have been paid by check for services rendered. They later discovered the checks were returned non-sufficient funds. The investigation continues.

Report of a parking violation in Ely – The owner of the car was located and moved the offending vehicle.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely – A local motel requested a subject be removed because of lack of payment for a room. The subject was contacted and left without incident.

Report of a trespass in Ely — The reporting party claimed a person, who had been trespassed from private property, was again on said property. Deputies located the subject, identified as Christina Lerch, of Ely. Lerch was issued a citation for trespassing and removed from the property.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party claimed a dog was being abused. The dog was located and was in good health.

Report of a parking violation in Ely – The owner of the vehicle was located and moved his truck.

August 1

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — The couple were located and both admitted that it was a simple pettifog. Both parties separated for the remainder of the night.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The residence was checked and everything appeared fine.

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — The reporting party claimed a man had been vociferating at him while he was working outside. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect.

Report of a business license violation in Ely — A male was reportedly conducting business without a business license. The male was located and confirmed he was properly licensed.

Report of a reckless driver in Ely — The reporting party claimed a vehicle almost struck several children. The driver was contacted and he advised the report was false. The driver was warned about his driving and the children were told to not play in the street.

Report of an unattended death — Thurman Hale passed away at his home from natural causes.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — The deputies located the subjects and found a woman had been lamenting at her children.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — A disturbance was located and officers found it was a boyfriend/girlfriend only arguing.

Report of harassment in Ely — The reporting party claimed a friend was being sexually harassed at her workplace. The investigation continues.

Report of a shoplifter in Ely — 56-year-old Gary Nelson, of Ely, was arrested after stealing merchandise from a local business.

Report of a trespasser in Ely — The reporting party claimed a person was trespassing on private property. The subject was gone when officers arrived.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The subjects were located and found they were only doing yard work.

Report of a fight in Ely — Officers were unable to locate any kind of disturbance.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a male had been yelling at her. The male was contacted and he claimed the reporting party was calling him names. Both parties were advised to stay away from each other.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — The reporting party complained about a neighborhood dog ululating. The owner of the dog was contacted and silenced the dog.

Report of a probation violation in Ely — Christopher Wallace, 29, of Ely, was found violating the conditions of his probation. Wallace was arrested for said violations.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party found damage to his vehicle. A neighbor contacted him and advised that the damage had been caused by his juvenile son. The reporting party and neighbor agreed to handle the situation without law enforcement involvement.

August 2

Report of a problem with a subject in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had several unwanted guests at his home. When officers arrived the individuals had already left.

Report of a dog problem in Ely — Reporting party stated that her neighbor’s dog was being abused. Officer contacted the neighbor and checked out the dog. He reported that no abuse was located.

Report of an ATL in Ely — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a business license violation in Ely — Officer contacted the individuals selling the items and advised them to get the appropriate licensing or stop selling.

Report of debris in the roadway — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

Report of threats in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had an argument with an individual over using a friend’s trailer. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.

Report of an unattended child in Ely — Reporting party located a small child walking down the roadway. DCFS was contacted along with the child’s mother.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Tyler D. Holland age 20 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Drew Sweeten age 51 of Ely was arrested for DUI, driving on divided highway, and maintaining lane of travel.

August 3

Report of a suspicious subject in Ely — Officer reported that he observed an individual enter into a vehicle that didn’t belong to him. During the officers investigation the individual was identified as Nicholas Glettig age 28 of Ely. Officer reported that Glettig was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, use of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer reported that Michael M. Greenfield age 29 of McAllen TX was arrested for DUI.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over food. The parties separated for the night.

Report of threat — Reporting party stated that an individual owed him money and when he tried to collect it the individual made threats towards him. The incident was documented.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of stalking in Ely — Reporting party stated that her teenage daughter is being followed by an adult male. All the parties involved were contacted who gave conflicting statements. Investigation continues.

Report of a fire — Report was given to Ely BLM.

Report of a dog running at large — The owner of the dog was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an arrest in Ely — Officer had received a report of the misuse of 911. Officer identified the individual as George E. Malaperdas age 27 of Ely. Malaperdas was arrested for misuse of 911.

Report of a domestic disturbance in Ely — The individuals involved were contacted who were engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a barking dog in Ely — The area was patrolled, but no barking dog was located.

August 4

Report of a dog problem in Ely — The area was patrolled and officer located the barking dog. Contact with the owner will be made when located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of an open door in Ely — The building was checked and the owner was contacted. No crime was reported.

Report of an accident — Report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a fire — Report was given to Ely BLM.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident that had occurred on Larson Ranch Road. Officer reported that Kenneth Spiers of Ely was operating a vehicle attempting to negotiate a turn. He lost control of his vehicle, which caused it to roll. An accident report was completed.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — The owner was contacted and the vehicle was removed.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Officers received a report of several juveniles playing with sharp sticks. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a child playing in the roadway in Ely — Officer reported that a small child was riding her tricycle in the roadway unattended. The parent was contacted along with DCFS.

Report of a possible burglary in Ely — Officer received a report of several individuals entering into a vacant building. Officer contacted the individuals in the area and issued them a trespass warning.

Report of a fire — Report was given to Baker Fire Department.

Report of suspicious circumstances in Ely — Officer contacted an individual who was loitering inside a vehicle. The individual stated that he was waiting for a friend. He was advised to leave the area.

Report of a juvenile problem in Ely — Officer made contact with an adult who is currently on juvenile probation. The individual had violated his conditions of probation. The information was sent to Juvenile Probation.

August 5

Report of a fight in Ely — Officers received a report of a fight that had occurred at a local motel. Officer contacted the parties involved and during his investigation arrested China Simon age 21 of Las Vegas, NV. Simon was arrested on three Clark Court warrants. April Lee age 43 of Las Vegas was also arrested on a probation violation.

Report of a subject threatening suicide in Ely — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

Report of people having a sexual relationship in an open area in Ely — Officers received a report of two people engaged in sex in a backyard. Officer contacted the parties involved who were not engaged in the activity at the time. They were advised to be more discrete and to leave the area.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — Officer patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.

Report of a violation of a court order in Ely — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a stolen vehicle in Ely — Reporting party stated that his vehicle had been stolen. Officer reported that the vehicle was not stolen, but had to be repossessed.

Report of lost medication in Ely — Reporting party stated that he had lost his medication while moving to a new residence. The incident was documented.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that her son had been battered by another juvenile several days ago. The incident was documented.

Report of an accident in Ely — Trish Goulter of Ely was operating a vehicle turning from Great Basin Blvd. onto Highland Drive. While she was proceeding into the turn her vehicle was struck by another vehicle being operated by Jesse Gomez of Ely. An accident report was completed and Gomez was issued a citation for following to close.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that a dog keeps coming into her yard. The dog was gone when officers arrived.

Report of a trespasser in Ely — Reporting party stated that several juveniles keep cutting through her yard. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a welfare check in Ely — The individual was contacted and taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a hit and run accident in Ely — Reporting party stated that while her vehicle was parked at a local motel parking lot it was struck by another vehicle. The striking vehicle fled the scene. Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who provided conflicting statements on what had occurred. The parties separated for the night.
