Dear Editor,

It is a pleasure to compliment Dan Stout for letting the American Legion and the VFW know that Chuck Adams and his wife volunteered their time to weed around the head stones in the Ely cemetery. It is so amazing we have people like this still around. They are from Elko just passing through and they did not want to be recognized for this service. I as the VFW historian could not let this go unnoticed.

Thank you Chuck Adams for your service in the Marine Corp and we thank your wife also. We appreciate people like you more than you think.

Thank you Dan Stout for loaning your weed eater

VFW Historian,

Don Wallis

To the Editor,

We the members of Beta Sigma Phi and the White Pine County Fair Board would like to welcome you to the 66th annual White Pine County Fair. We have some exciting things planned and can’t wait to share them with you. We are having a concert again this year. Chad Freeman and the Red Line Band from the Phoenix area are returning. We have moved the concert to the Northern Nevada Railway freight barn at 1100 Ave. A. They put on a great show and we feel very lucky to have them coming to entertain us again this year. We also have a lot more entertainment planned. The local talent is amazing. We have Pure Talent scheduled to entertain us; a band from Lund and one from Ely. The schedule also includes: more signing, dancing, magic show, watermelon eating contest, bubble blowing contest, and much more. We are still open to anyone who is interested in showcasing your talent to contact us.

We have a lot of people who say we need to do something to change the fair and we would like to hear any ideas you have. Our challenge to each one of you is to enter something. There are a lot of people in our community with some great talent we would love for you to share. Here are a few ideas of things anyone can enter: clothing, crops and garden, fine arts (drawing and painting), floriculture, handiwork, hobbies, homemaking (canning, baking, cooking, etc.), photography and we have a class for our special citizens. Parents save the artwork from the children’s art festival.

The commercial displays have really increased in the past couple of years and we always have room for more vendors if you are interested in selling goods or just want to share information with the public.

We are proud to be your hostesses and appreciate all the participation and support our community has given us in years past. Together we can make the White Pine County Fair a time of fun and enjoyment for all. If you want more information about how and what to enter in the fair a fair book can be picked up at the White Pine County Chamber of Commerce or you can contact me: Sheri Tolbert (775) 289-6709. If you would like more information on the commercial displays: Melissa Spear (775) 293-3875.
