January 23, 1939 – September 13, 2013
Bill passed from this earth to his final resting place on September 13, 2013 at his daughter’s home in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nina Lee, and his four children; William Lee Highline, Waymon Layton Highline, Jody Lee Highline and Cindy Sue Highline, his sister, Sue Tratchet, and Betty Smiley, brother, Gene Highline.
He had ten grandchildren; Waymon Layton Highline II, William Spence Highline, Mathew Lee Highline, Michael Steven Highline, Jessica Marie Highline, Christopher Highline, Crystal Highline, Joshua Marc Walters (Kaitlyn), Jacob Christopher Walters and Joseph Daniel Walters (Brittany).
He was an awesome man, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 until 1959. He worked in the oil fields until he landed a job at Singer Sewing Machining, where he was a salesman and a repair technician. He was a fire fighter for the U.S. Navy in Babbitt, Nevada until 1973.
He was a plumber and contactor in Tahoe City, California until 1980. In 1982 he was called back to Civil Service with the United States Army at the Pueblo Army Depot where he won awards for fabricating a harness to do the impossible. Then off to Alamogordo, New Mexico where he finally retired, Mom by his side.
Off to Las Vegas where he became the most popular guy at the Flamingo employee of the year…That’s Bill, our Dad.
He was the best friend you ever had. The Santa Claus, not complete if Mrs. Claus wasn’t standing by his side. The guy with the bowling balls in his yard!
He gave of himself and expected nothing in return.
Thank you Ely, Nevada for taking care of my Mom and Dad.
