Jenny Wilson has been awarded the Ely Lions Club’s “Teacher of the Month for October” at a special ceremony at last White Pine high School Board of Trustees meeting last week.

“Ms. Wilson is the instructor for the McGill Elementary Pre-School program,” McGill Principal Robert Bischoff said. “This grant funded program provides early childhood educational services to approximately 36 children ages 3-4. Wilson has been the teacher in charge of this program since 2001. Prior to earning her bachelor degree in education she served as the teacher assistance for this program and has been instrumental in the successful application for continued funding.”

Wilson expressed her gratitude while accepting her award.

“I am honored to be a teacher for White Pine School District and to be selected from among some truly stellar educators as October’s teacher of the Month,” Wilson said.

Wilson is a fourth-generation White Pine County native who was raised all over Nevada and California, then returned to finish high school here.

The “Teacher of the Month” is now in its second year honoring outstanding educators in White Pine County.
