The White Pine County Commission narrowed its search for a new District Fire Chief on Monday.
The commission interviewed and scored three candidates for the position: Brett Waters, Dave Lane and Michael Peterson. There were six interviews scheduled, but Commissioner Richard Howe said three candidates, David Steiner, Louis Mirabelli and Steven De Chellis Jr., withdrew their names from consideration.
The commission is scheduled to make a final decision during its regular meeting on Dec. 18.
The commission is searching for a replacement after former District Fire Chief John Shearman resigned from the position earlier this year.
The commission also approved professional service agreements between White Pine County and the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education, University of Nevada Reno for proposals to provide professional services in support of the economic analysis for the feasibility study report in accordance with task 1 and 3 of the White Pine County Department of Energy award number DE-EE0003139, renewable energy feasibility study and resources assessments for 1. Dr. Thomas R Harris, University of Nevada, Reno, in the amount of $24,900 and George Borden, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Las Vegas in the amount of $24,900.
The amounts do not include any new county money.
