Mayor Jonny Duane Hickman passed away late evening of February 17, 2014.  The youngest of three, he was born to Henry Hickman and Erbeal Hind, June 28, 1950, in Culver City California.  Jonny was raised in the San Fernando Valley and moved to Las Vegas, NV. in 1971 where he started a family and became a dealer in downtown Las Vegas.  He worked in many Las Vegas casinos, Union Plaza, Landmark, Arizona Charlie’s, Luxor, Boomtown, Klondike, and 12 years at the Maxim. Jonny had many adventures running business’s with his brother Donald in Barstow, CA, Victor Ville, CA. and Ridgecrest, CA. that finally led him to opening a car rental business in Ely, NV. He found himself in love with the people and the good of the biggest little city in Nevada.  He was elected twice as Mayor of Ely and served two successful terms.

Jonny is survived by his daughter Lori Hickman-Eldredge, and his three grandchildren who were his pride and joy Spencer (20), Hailee (12) and Noah (10).  He is also survived by his favorite nieces Missy and Susie who he was very close with.  Jonny had many friends and a community who will miss him deeply.

Memorial services will be March 1, 2014 at 1pm. at The Bristlecone Convention Center. In lieu of flowers, the family has a fund set up at the First National Bank Of Ely to help cover expenses.
