James Edward Duval, Jr. was born June 14, 1933 at Rupert, Idaho the first child of parents James Edward Duval and Lucy Valate Davis (Duval). He joined his family at the homestead near Cherry Creek, Nevada. When he became of school age, Jim and Lucy moved into Cherry Creek where Jim completed his grade school education. At the age of 12 years he went to work with his Dad at the Chery Creek mill working for Jack Boundly and Ken Cleghorn. When he was 16 he began hunting and trapping with Wylie Carrol a government trapper from Ely. Jim attended White Pine County High School in Ely, Nevada, graduating June of 1951. January 1951 he joined the US Navy with friend Paul Boundy, served as a Marine Medic, decorated with several medals, honorable discharge in 1955. Returning to Ely he worked for Kennecott Copper Mines at Ruth driving Ukelets (big mine haul trucks). On November 11, 1957 Jim married Cora Ann Ferguson from which union were born two children, Laurie Ann Duval and David Blaine Duval. Jim later moved to Reno, Nevada where he put himself through college and became an accountant for Nevada Pacific Power at Reno for 19 years.
He married Pati Hastings on February 14, 1969 in Reno, Nevada.
September 21, 1977 at Elko, Nevada Jim married his eternal companion Patricia Anne Johnson of McGill, Nevada. Their current place of residence since June 1978 is Hayden, Idaho.
Preceding him in death, parents, James E. Duval, Lucy V. (Davis) Duval, brother Jack B. Campbell, Nevada; sisters; Eva Marie Campbell (Pierson) of Utah, Shirley Duval Edwards Ellers, of Idaho; son David B. Duval of Oregon; daughter Terri Bourgeois Eby (Terry Halsell) of Idaho; father-in-law, Andrew Johnson, Nevada, and granddaughter Jennifer Day, Nevada.
Leaving behind wife, Patricia (Johnson) Duval, 2 sisters; Lurley M. Duval and Lois Duval Clegg, both of Idaho; daughters; Laurie Duval (Steve) Sudweeks, of Nevada; Kerry Bourgeois (Kirk) Hogeboom, Nevada; Cindee Bourgeois (Clifford) Hicks, Idaho; son, David Bourgeois, Idaho; mother-in-law Donna (Jensen) Johnson, Nevada; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, McGill, Nevada on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Cherry Creek, Nevada.
