MAY 7, 2014

Report of a bomb threat — Reporting party stated that an unknown caller had called the clinic and reported that there was a bomb inside the building. Officers with the assistance of the Ely Fire Department cleared the building and surrounding area and nothing was located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he is arguing over the repair value of a vehicle that had been damage by an individual. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem

Report of a noise complaint — Reporting party stated that an individual was walking down the street yelling at people. Officer contacted the individual and advised him to keep the peace.

Report of possible abuse — Officer received a report of possible elderly abuse that had taken place. Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that the incident was unfounded.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a family member was posting unfavorable comments about him on Face Book. Officer observed the posting and found nothing illegal taking place. The incident was documented.

Report of a non-injury accident —  The accident investigation was handled by Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a vagrant — The subject, who was soliciting alms, was requested to vacate the area.  The subject complied.

Report of a sex crime — A subject reported to have been sexually assaulted by a relative.  The investigation continues.

Report of a hit and run — The reporting party claimed someone struck her vehicle while it was parked in front of a local business.  A report was completed.

Report of identity theft — The reporting party claimed she was informed by the IRS that another subject had used her social security number in an attempt to file a tax return.

Report of fraud — A local utility reported that a consumer, was fraudulently using the utility without paying.  The suspect was contacted and warned.

Report of a residential alarm —  The residence was checked and found to be secure.

Report of vandalism — A deputy discovered possible vandalism to a fence.  The ruination was documented and a report was completed.

Report of an atv disturbance — The reporting party complained about an ATV creating a disturbance near his home.  Upon officers arriving, the ATV causing the disquietude was gone.

Report of a barking dog — The owner was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a burglary — Officer received a report of someone who had broken into a local school. Officer reported that two juvenile suspects were identified who had broken into the school and stole several items. The juveniles had also damaged several items in the school and had attempted to start a fire inside the school building. The juveniles were detained and transported to the Elko Juvenile Dentition Center.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a dog at large — Officer contacted the owner of the dogs and advised her to keep them contained.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Devin T. Hutchison age 29 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that he was not intoxicated.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles hanging around several vacant homes. The juveniles and their parents were contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a barking dog — The owner of the dog will be issued a citation when they are located.

Report of a fight — The area was patrolled, but no fight was located.

Report of a open door — Officer located several open windows on a local business. The business was checks and the windows secured.

Report of a found wallet — The owner of the wallet will be contacted.

Report of a found item — Reporting party located two outdoor lights in her yard that didn’t belong to her. The owner of the lights was located and they were returned.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that a individual was hanging around a local business establishment and asking people if they wanted to party. The area was patrolled, but the individual had left the area.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that he was having problems with child custody orders. He was advised to contact his attorney.

Report of found keys — Reporting party stated that he located a set of keys at Marich Field. The keys were placed into lost and found.

Report of a lost wallet — A report was completed.

Report of a lost cell phone — A report was completed.

Report of a dog bite — Reporting party stated that a dog had bitten her chid while visiting at a friends home. The child received medical treatment at E.R. Officer contacted the owner of the dog and identified her as Brandi Barney- Rodriguez. She was issued a citation for dangerous dog.

Report of injury to property — Reporting party stated that someone had damaged a fence. A report was completed.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Donica Herring age 37 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that several small children were playing with guns and one of them possible pointed a BB gun at him. Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted one of the individuals involved who stated that no disturbance had occurred.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Gavin T. Craw age 25 of Ely was arrested for failure to maintain lane of travel and D.U.I. #1

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that a semi-truck had backed into his vehicle. Investigation continues.

Report of an accident — The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted who was attempting to obtain a ride to Las Vegas.

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer attempted to contact the occupant of the home, but no one would answer the door.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a welfare check — Officer reported that the individual was not located and possibly has left the area.

Report of a noise distrubance — Officer reported that when he arrived the responsible party fled the area.

Report of a barking dog — Officer reported that upon arrival the dog had stopped barking.

Report of a suspicous subject — Officer contacted the individual who was having a personal crises. He stated the he was just thinking about life changes. No assistance was needed.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and reported that she was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer assisted school staff with a student that had violated school policy.

Report of a possible burglary — Officer received a report of several men attempting to gain access to a camp trailer. The men were contacted who advised that they had permission to do so. The owner of the trailer was contacted who advised the men did have permission to enter the trailer.

Report of a welfare check — The home was checked, but the resident was not at home.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that she received a notice of collections from a collection agency. The notice was for overdue parking citations. Officer contacted the collection agency who provided information to the reporting party on how to dispute the citation.

Report of an accident — Emily Kelly of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. She failed to see a parked vehicle behind her belonging to Ron Schaefer of Ely. Kelly’s vehicle struck Schaefer’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer reported that he located an individual who was yelling and causing a disturbance. The individual was identified as Kyle P. Hannig age 27 of Ely. Hannig was arrested for intoxicated pedestrian in a roadway and obstructing a police officer.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had used her debit card without her permission. Officer contacted the company who had authorized the charges and reported that it appeared fraudulent. The reporting party was advised to cancel her debit card and to contact her banking establishment.

Report of an open door — Officer received a report of an open door on a vacant home. Officer checked the residence and secured the door.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that an ATM machine had been damaged. Investigation continues.

Report of dogs at large — The owner of the dogs was contacted and advised to keep them secure.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that she allowed a friend to puppy sit her dog. The friend would not return the dog. Officer contacted the friend who returned the dog.
