Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that his ex-girlfriend has been withdrawing money from his banking account without his permission. Investigation continues.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a student had stolen some money from a teacher at a local school. The student and her guardian were contacted and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of vandalism — Reporting party stated that someone had vandalized the WP by painting it different colors.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a bicycle had been stolen from her yard.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that an ex-employee was loitering around one of his work trucks. Officer patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.

Report of a dog problem — Officer located the barking dog who had tangled himself in a chain. The chain and dog were untangled and the owner of the dog was notified of the problem.

Report of a bad check: — A representative of a local business reported receiving a check from a customer for services rendered.  The check was returned for non-sufficient funds.  A report was completed and submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review to assess if the author qualifies for the Bad Check Program.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party received an order for some candles.  The purchaser sent a check $1000 over the amount of the order.  The purchaser requested the seller to cash the check and wire the $1000 back.  The reporting party learned the check was drawn on a closed account.  The reporting party was advised it was a fraudulent money scam and not to cash the check.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party was selling an item online and received a check for the item.  They thought it was unusual because the purchaser didn’t ask any questions about the item being sold.  The reporting party contacted the bank and found that the check was written on a closed account.

Report of property damage — The reporting party observed damage to a retaining wall.  The suspect was located and agreed to repair the wall.

Report of possible child abuse: — Officers assisted the Division of Child and Family Services in the affair involving a child with an unexplained injury.  Contact was made with the caregiver, who gave reasons which were consistent with the infant’s injury.  A report was completed.

Report of fraud — The reporting party received a phone call from an out-of-area phone number advising him he had just won millions of dollars.  The reporting party knew it was a scam, but wanted it on report.

Report of a business alarm — The alarm was inadvertently set off by an employee.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party complained about the neighbor’s dogs running at large.  The neighbor was contacted and warned about keeping their dogs in the yard.

Report of a juvenile problem —The reporting party complained about juvenile being out past curfew.  The juveniles were located and returned to their home.

Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party said their son had gone out with some friends and hadn’t returned home.  Prior to officers arriving, the son returned home.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had taken her purse from her vehicle. Investigation continues

Report of a dog at large — The owner of the dogs was contacted and advised to keep them contained.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that someone is sending him threatening letters. Investigation continues.

Report of a traffic hazard — Officer reported that a semi-truck hauling bees had broken down. The driver of the truck was waiting for another truck to arrive to remove the load.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer reported that during his investigation Donald Randall age 47 of Ely was arrested. Randall was arrested for domestic battery and fourth degree arson.  He is accused of battering his wife and attempting to set their home on fire.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he was having an argument with his roommate. The parties involved separated for the day.

Report of a violation of a court order — Officer investigated the incident and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer reported that the vehicle was being repaired. No crime was located.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer contacted the operator and reported that he was not intoxicated

Report of an accident — Officer reported that an individual was riding on the running board of a vehicle and she fell off causing serious injuries. The female was taken to E.R. by ambulance. Investigation into the accident continues.

MAY 17, 2014

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that he made contact with a female who was under the influence of alcohol. The female attempted to flee from the area. Officer apprehended the female who was identified as Melissa Cook age 19 of Ely. She was arrested for obstructing a police officer and minor in consumption. A local juvenile was also detained for minor in consumption and curfew. He was later released to his parent.

Report of an accident — The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a possible burglary — reporting party stated that someone had entered into a vacant home. Officer reported that it appears that nothing was taken. Investigation continues,

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he just terminated one of his employees and wanted him removed from the premises. Officer reported that the individual was collecting his personal items and moving them to another residence.

Report of a found child — Reporting party stated that a small child had entered into her yard. The mother of the child arrived and took the child home. The child had opened the door on the residence and walked down the street. No further action was taken.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted a intoxicated individual who had been laying on the grass at a local park. He was advised to leave the area.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no fight had occurred. A verbal argument had taken place and the parties involved had separated for the night.

Report of a welfare check — The residence was checked, but the individual was not at home.

Report of a possible sexual assault — Reporting party stated that her daughter has been acting out and believes she might have been sexually assaulted. Investigation continues.

Report of a problem with a neighbors children — Reporting party stated that the neighbor’s children are coming to her house uninvited. The reporting party only wanted the incident documented in case things start disappearing. A report was completed.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the mother and child and reported that they were fine.

Report of found property — Officer located a bicycle that had been stolen previously. The bike was returned to the owner.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle who denied the allegation. He was issued a warning.

Report of a domestic battery — Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had occurred. Officer contacted the parties involved who had been involved in an argument over the use of a car. During the officers investigation Heston A. Bradley age 21 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery #1. He is accused of battering his girlfriend.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that he mailed a package through the postal service, but it never arrived. The reporting party was advised to contact the Postal Inspector and report the incident.

Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of an individual who was asleep in a vehicle. Officer located the individual and during his investigation arrested Levi E. Garcia age 24 of Ely. Garcia was arrested for D.U.I. and under the influence of a controlled substance.

Report of a citizen assist — Reporting party stated that a bolt had broken on his bicycle and he was unable to repair it. Officer assisted in repairing the bike.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that a new custody order was in affect and wanted it followed. Officer investigated the incident and reported that the new order had not been signed by the judge. The reporting party was advised to follow the custody order that was currently in affect.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that her child had been shot with a bb gun. Officer investigated the incident and reported that he had been shot with an airsoft gun, but the projectile had left a red mark on the child. The juveniles that were involved were contacted and advised not to shoot each other due to the dangers involved.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen his voucher ticket at a local casino. Investigation continues.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Officer contacted the individual who was looking for rocks. No crime had occurred.
