Hal R. Jensen, 88, of Ely passed away, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 just three weeks to the day after the love of  his  life of 70 years, Dorothy Jensen had passed away. Hal was born April 17, 1926 to the late Evengeline and Earl Jensen. Hal attended White Pine County Schools and then began a long and successful career in the mining industry, along with mining Hal was an accomplished licensed contractor.

Hal personified the absolute outdoorsman, whether it be prospecting, hunting, looking for antiques,, Hal loved to go “way out and way up” into the mountains. He shared his love of the mountains with his family and anyone else who would accompany him to the scenic mountains of Nevada, his beloved home.

His most beloved mining method was true “hard rock” underground mining, Hal had the ability to perform all tasks in the mining realm from working at the ore face in the mine to pouring bars in the refinery, he would generously share and mentor anyone who wished to learn with the same zeal and passion he possessed.

More than his love of the mountains or his love of mining, Hal loved his family with dedication and purpose. “Grandpa’s” love, kindness and humor warmed the Jensen home with laughter and excitement and kept children and (great) grandchildren along with whomever else may be present, giggling in delight of his playful teasing manner.

Hal is survived by his four children; Hal, Jr., (Donna Jean), Joy, Jan (David Grubic), David (Donna Sue), nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, one brother, Carl Jensen, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his everlasting love Dorothy, parents, Evangeline and Earl Jensen, brother, Robert (Bob) Jensen, son Gary Lee Jensen, grandson, David Linn Jensen, Jr., and granddaughter Francis Elizabeth Jensen.

Services for Hal were conducted on Saturday May 17, 2014. The Jensen family wishes to express gratitude and thankfulness for the kindness and compassion to all who have offered sympathies.
