JUNE 24

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of phone harassment — Reporting party stated that their company is receiving unwanted telephone calls. The reporting party was having the number blocked.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual had broken a glass at his place of employment. The reporting party requested the individual be trespassed from the property. The individual was contacted and advised not to return to the property.

Report of a possible violation of a protective order — Officer investigated the allegation and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that while she was at a local business establishment an individual was yelling profanities at her. The individual was contacted and advised to stay away from the reporting party.

Report of a juvenile problem — The area was patrolled, but no juveniles were located.

June 25

Report of a public nuisance — Two lots were observed to have excess trash.  Contact will be made with the owners to clean up their property or face a criminal penalty.

Report of a dog problem — A dog was reportedly left in a vehicle, unattended, during warm conditions.  Contact was made with the owner, who apologized, and said it wouldn’t happen again.

Report of a trash problem — The reporting party claimed someone put trash in a commercially owned dumpster.  The owner of the trash was contacted and warned about putting trash in other people’s receptacles.  The subject removed the trash.

Report of a fire — It was reported that heat, fuel, and oxygen had combined in a local field to form a chain reaction that rapidly oxidizes material through the exothermic process of combustion.  The conflagration was extinguished.

Report of a custody issue — Two subjects were arguing over custody and visitation of their child.  Both were advised to revisit their child custody agreement through court proceedings.

Report of a reckless driver — The reporting party purported a subject was driving impetuously.  Deputies were unable to locate the alleged vehicle.

Report of a stolen vehicle — The reporting party claimed a family member stole his vehicle and fled the area.  A report was completed.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole a bicycle.  When the deputy arrived, the reporting party had left.  No action taken.

Report of a juvenile problem — Allegedly, several juveniles were attending a party in the highland area of the county.  Contact was made with the subjects, none of which were juveniles.

Report of a non-injury accident — Lydia Campbell, of Ely, reported hitting a bovine with her vehicle while driving home. A report was completed.

June 26

Report of shots fired — The reporting party believed he heard a gunshot in a nearby field.  Deputies checked the area, but no one was located.

Report of a noise disturbance — City – The suspect was contacted and turned down her music.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and found to be fine.

Report of fraud — Several reports were made of a male subject calling the reporting parties and claiming to be a deputy.  The male claimed there was an arrest warrant for the reporting party.  The reporting parties was advised the Sheriff’s Office does not call people about their warrants, and the phone caller was more than likely a phishing attempt to extort money.  A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party claimed a small child was standing in the roadway.  When officers arrived, the child was gone.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole his keys when he walked away from his table at a local fast food eatery.  A report was completed.

Report of property damage — The reporting party claimed her adult son damaged property she was renting.  The son admitted to the damage.

Report of a suspicious subject — The reporting party claimed a male was standing in the road and appeared suspicious.  The male was gone when officers arrived.

Report of a reckless driver — The vehicle was located, but was observing all traffic laws.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed several people were attempting to assault her.  The claims were unfounded.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a friend took some of her property as a result of an argument.  The friend was contacted and returned the property.

Report of a domestic dispute — It was found to be an argument and both parties separated for the night.

Report of an accident — Chris Jones was operating a vehicle traveling on US 50 when he struck a deer causing damage to his vehicle. An accident report was completed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen a water pump and some fencing materials from his property. Investigation continues

Report of a lost item — Reporting party stated that he had lost his social security card. He was advised to report it to the Social Security Administration.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that an individual was making vulgar remarks about him. The incident was documented.

Report of violation of a court order — The incident was investigated and no violation had occurred.

Report of a lost camper — Officer reported that the individual was located and he was returned to his camp.

Report of a subject threatening suicide — The individual was contacted and he stated that he was fine.

Report of a speeding vehicle — The operator of the vehicle was contacted and warned.

Report of a domestic battery — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in an altercation over family problems. During the investigation Robert H. Miller age 50 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery.

Report of a noise disturbance — The individual was contacted and advised to turn her music down.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that someone had let her dog out of its kennel. The incident was documented.

Report of a injured eagle — The area was patrolled, but the bird was not located.

Report of an accident/ private property — Scott McVicars of McGill was operating a vehicle and was backing up. As he did so he failed to see a parked vehicle that was parked behind him, belonging to Judith Leon of Ely. McVicars vehicle struck Leon’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a barking dog — The area was patrolled, but the dog was not located.

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that approximately two months ago someone entered into her home and stole several items. Investigation continues.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of an accident / private property — Jimmy Rowan of Benton, AR was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a parked vehicle behind him belonging to Richard Janssen of Chester, IL. Rowan’s vehicle struck Janssen’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of an open door — Officer received a report of an open door on a vacant home. The home was checked and the door secured.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer received a report of a individual at a local casino that was possible using a fake ID. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that it had expired registration. The vehicle was tagged for removal.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Officer received a report of an individual who had rented a room at a local motel. The individual seemed suspicious to the clerk that checked her in. Officer reported that no problems were located.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen her medication. During the officers investigation the reporting party’s medication was located.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that her boyfriend refused to give her some property that they had purchased together. She was advised it was a civil problem.

Report of a found bike — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that bicycle had been stolen from his yard. A report was completed.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who claimed to have started the fight. No other suspects were located in the area. The individual involved was advised to keep the peace.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been engaged in a verbal argument. Officer provided council to one of the individuals involved who was causing the disturbance.

Report of a reckless driver — Reporting party stated that a vehicle constantly speeds in her neighborhood. The area will be patrolled.

Report of a dog at large — Reporting party stated that his neighbor’s dog is always loose and is aggressive. The area was patrolled, but the dog was contained. The reporting party was advised to call the Sheriff’s Office when the dog is loose.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that a juvenile had stolen some money from his place of business. Officer reported that the juvenile admitted to taking the money. A report will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that her elderly family member’s phone had been turned off, but someone has gained access to her number and has accumulated a large bill. Investigation continues.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were riding their bikes on a highway. The juveniles were contacted who were riding on the side of the roadway.

Report of a suicidal subject — The individual was taken to E.R. for treatment.

Report of a dog at large — The dog was caught and placed back into its owner’s yard.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer reported that the operator of the vehicle was traveling to the E.R. for a medical emergency.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of possible child abuse — Officer reported that the crime had occurred in another jurisdiction and had already been reported to the police there.

Report of a motorist assist — Officer assisted a motorist with a flat tire.

JULY 1, 2014

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that she purchased some items from a local store. She then returned the items and wanted her debit card credited. The store credited her card, but it did not immediately show up on her statement. She was advised to monitor her account for the next few days to verify the transaction had been credited.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a intoxicated pedestrian — Officer contacted the individual who was being assisted home by a friend.

Report of an accident — Arturo Chavez of Nyssa, OR was operating a vehicle traveling on US 6 when he struck a rabbit. The rabbit caused damage to his vehicle. A report was completed.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that several months ago he was operating a vehicle and swerved to miss a deer which caused him to drive his vehicle off the roadway. He was now needing an accident report for his insurance. The incident was documented.

Report of a parking problem — Officer contacted the reporting party, but the vehicle he was complaining about had left the area.

Report of possible drug use — Officer contacted the occupant of the apartment and reported that no indication of drug use were located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that during his investigation Koby K. Wilson age 27 of Ruth was arrested for domestic battery. He is accused of battering his girlfriend.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that while his vehicle was parked at a local parking lot another vehicle struck it. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

Report of a barking dog — Officer located the barking dog, but the owner was not at home. Contact with the owner will be made at a later date.
