The Ely Renaissance Society’s annual Art and Wine Walk will be held at the Renaissance Village on Saturday at 5 p.m. According to the Renaissance Society, all the money raised at the event will go toward “the restoration of an Art Cultural Center in downtown Ely.”
The event’s organizers Al and Brenda Moeller said the walk is a nice place to see art and meet the artists as well as sample food and wine.
“The event is a chance to socialize with people, view and purchase lovely artwork. It’s all set set in an attractive and unique setting,” the Moellers said.
Many artists, both local and from out of town, have become involved in the festivities as the walk has grown its reputation over the years. Items such as paintings, jewelry, wind chimes, photographs, cards and pottery have all been displayed and sold at previous wine walks according to the Moellers.
“The artists enjoy the opportunity to show off and sell their work while people that come out get to enjoy the ethnic appetizers and wine served in the Renaissance Village houses, which show off our diverse population as well as our history,” Brenda Moeller said.
This Saturday’s Art and Wine Walk will also include a silent auction as well as a no-host dinner and bar.
“The silent auction has a variety of items including gift baskets, children’s toys, home décor, and much more,” The Renassiance Soceity said in a released statement about the upcoming event.
The Ely Renaissance Society was formed back in 1999 by a group of individuals who wanted to see art and culture better represented in the downtown area. The group is responsible for many of the murals painted on the sides of buildings as well as “living history presentations” and re-enactments in addition to their work putting on the wine walk and farmer’s market each year and managing the Ely Art Bank.
