AUG. 13

Report of a accident / private property — Darlene Smith of Lake Havasu, AZ was operating a vehicle and backing up. She failed to see a pedestrian identified as Julie Graham of Lewiston, ID. Smith struck Graham in the leg. An accident report was completed.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer reported that a family traveling through the Ely area had gotten into a verbal argument. One of the family members exited the vehicle and was left by the others. The individual who was left behind contacted a friend who would come and pick her up.

Report of a welfare check — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual who had placed a sign in the roadway. Officer contacted the individual and advised her to remove the sign.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of animal cruelty — Officer received a report of several cats that were not being cared for. Officer is attempting to locate the owner to verify the complaint.

Report of vandalism — Officer reported that someone had placed graffiti on the playground equipment at the McGill Park. Investigation continues.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that someone was leaving notes on her vehicle reference the way she was parking. The person writing the notes was contacted and advised to complain to the apartment manager rather than leaving notes on the car.

Report of a welfare check — Officer patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of a problem between a parent and child. Officer contacted the individuals involved who had engaged in an argument about the child coming home late. The child was advised to follow the parent’s rules.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the individuals who were playing soccer and listening to music. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle accident that had occurred in Nye County. The striking vehicle had left the scene. Officer located the vehicle and the driver was informed that he had struck a vehicle with the trailer he was towing. The information was provide to Nye County.

Report of an alarm — Officer received a report of a fire alarm that had been activated at a local motel. Officer reported that no fire was located and that an individual had purposely activated the alarm. That person was identified as Mary L. Tognoni age 30 of Ely. Tognoni was arrested for activating a false fire alarm.

Aug. 14

Report of a disturbance — The music was off when officers arrived.

Report of a civil issue — The reporting party claimed a family member took her dog, which had been housed and cared for by the family member.  The incident was deemed civil.

Report of an assault — Upon Officer’s arriving, the parties were arguing in the street. The parties were separated. Emily Elizabeth Spoelstra, 21, of Ely, drove away from the scene. Spoelstra was stopped and placed under arrest for driving under the influence, obstructing a peace officer and no license in possession. The assault is under investigation.

Report of a hit and run — The reporting party claimed someone struck his vehicle and fled the scene.  Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, this was determined to be related to the earlier DUI, and the driver was issued a citation for hit and run.

Report of a suspicious subject — A subject was observed sitting inside the fenced area of the Duck Pond.  The subject, identified as 25 year old Koltan Boone Tilford, was arrested for trespassing.

Report of a hit and run — The reporting party claimed someone struck his vehicle and fled the scene.  Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, this was determined to be related to the earlier DUI, and the driver was issued a citation for hit and run.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party believed someone damaged her tires.  A report was completed.

Report of a tpo violation — The reporting party claimed she has a temporary protection order (TPO) against an ex-boyfriend, and he continues to contact her. The investigation continues.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to be getting several threatening text messages from an out-of-state ex-boyfriend.  A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject — A male subject, who had been involved in an accident, left the hospital prior to being released.  The subject was located and returned to the hospital.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed to smell a suspicious smell from a neighboring apartment.  Officers arrived and couldn’t locate any unusual odors.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that she was receiving unwanted text messages. The incident was documented.

Report of dog left in a vehicle — The owner of the dogs was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a lost hunter — The individual was located and returned to his camp and friends.

Report of a violation of a court order — Reporting party stated that an individual whom she has a protective order against violated the order. Officer reported that a violation had occurred and that they are looking for the violator.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had damaged a window on a front end loader.

Report of a barking dog — The owner of the dog was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a custody problem — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that the situation was resolved.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — The owner of the vehicle was contacted and advised to have it removed.

Report of nudity — Officer received a report of several bicyclist riding their bicycles in the nude.  Officer located the individuals and reported that one of the females involved was riding without a top on exposing herself. She was advised to put her shirt back on.

Report of a possible drunk driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a battery — Officer received a report of a prisoner that had been battered by another prisoner while in custody at the White Pine County Jail. The individual responsible for the battery was identified as Christopher Wallace age 30 of Ely. Wallace was charged with battery by a prisoner in lawful custody and abuse of an elderly person.

Report of a welfare check — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of shot fired — The area was patrolled, but nothing was located.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of found drug paraphernalia — Reporting party stated that they had found several items of drug paraphernalia inside a motel room after a guest had checked out. The items were collected and destroyed.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — Officer contacted the individual who was riding his bike and crashed. A family member arrived to the scene and gave him a ride home.

Report of a problem with a boyfriend — Reporting party stated that she had split up with her boyfriend and she was afraid he was coming to her home to cause problems. Officer contacted the boyfriend who was in another state. No further problems were reported.

Aug. 16

Report of a fight — Officers received a report of a fight possibly taking place near a local casino. Officer contacted the individuals involved and reported that three people were arrested. Peggy A. Romero age 47 of Ely was arrested for battery on a peace officer. Angela Searle age 20 of Ely was arrested for disturbing the peace and minor in consumption. Alicia Searle age 23 of Ely was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that her vehicle might have been damaged while parked at the Fair Grounds. She was advised to take it to a mechanic and if it was damaged a report would be completed.

Report of a suspicious subject — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a individual was making rude comments about her family members. The individual was contacted and advised to stop.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were climbing on one of her trees and damaged it. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a child in thee roadway — Officer received a report of a small child riding their bicycle in the roadway. The area was patrolled, but the child was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Sharon T.Evans age 51 of Ely was arrested for method of turn, driving on right side required and D.U.I. #1

Report of a music disturbance — Officer contacted the responsible party and advised him of the complaint.

Report of an intoxicated subject — Officer received a report of an individual who was intoxicated and passed out at a local bar. Officer reported that his friends helped him home.

Report of a coyote in the Ely area — Officer located the coyote running the streets in the Ely area. No problems were reported.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had broken a window on his camper shell. The incident was documented.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Kenneth W. Couch age 55 of Sayre OK was arrested on a warrant out of LeFlore County OK for manufacturing a controlled substance.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual causing a problem at the Fair Grounds. Officer located the individual who was identified as Marcus Valencia age 22 of McGill. Valencia was arrested for disturbing the peace. Another individual involved was identified as Robert W. Ross age 21 of Ely. Ross was arrested on a probation violation.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog running at large. The owner of the dog was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party had captured two dogs that were running at large. The dogs were taken to the City Dog Pound.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved agreed to stay in different parts of the home for the night.

Aug. 18

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of several individuals sleeping near a local business establishment. The individuals were contacted and advised to leave the area.

Report of an accident — Rachael Luce of Ely was operating a vehicle on US 6 when she struck a deer that had entered into the roadway. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen a spool of wire from a storage area he manages. The incident was documented.

Report of a found phone — The owner of the phone was contacted and it was returned to him.

Report of a found wallet — The owner of the wallet was contacted and she will return to the Ely area to pick it up.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was causing a problem at his place of business. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the area.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he was threatened by an individual over the visitation of a family member. Officer reported that when the individual who made the threats is located he will be issued a citation for harassment.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Tyler D. Holland age 21 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation

Report of a scam — Reporting party stated that she had received notice that she had won a lot of money, but she needed to send a certain amount of money to claim her winnings. She was advised it was a scam and to discontinue her contact with the person setting up the arraignments.

 

REPORT OF POSSIBLE ANIMAL ABUSE

City — reporting party stated that she recently got a dog from an individual and she noticed several scars on the dog. Officer was unable to locate the previous owner at this time.

Officer contacted the individual and reported that he was fine.

City — reporting party stated that an individual came to her home and was banging on her door. Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over returning some property. The property was returned to the rightful owner and he was advised to leave the area.

Reporting party stated that his ex-girlfriend was moving out of their home and he was afraid she would cause problems. The ex-girlfriend was contacted and no problems were reported.
