Roland J. DiSanza pic1Roland Joseph Di Sanza was born in Ely, Nevada on June 18, 1928 and passed away on August 28, 2014, in Henderson, Nevada.  Roland graduated from White Pine High School in Ely in 1948.  He worked at the Kennecott Copper Mine for over 30 years in Ruth, Nevada. When he retired he was a Chemist in the Assay Office in McGill, Nevada. Following retirement he helped his wife, Rita, manage Rita’s Arts and Crafts. Roland was devoted to his wife and cared for her during her 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed being outdoors with his family and friends. Roland was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a Grand Knight (Ely Council), State Deputy (Nevada State Council), and Master of the Forth Degree Councils in Ely and and Las Vegas.  Rita and Roland enjoyed traveling with the Knights to Canada, Hawaii, and Washington D. C..

Roland is survived by his sister Claudina Sertic, his sons Gene and Frank Di Sanza, his daughters Lucy Reed and Laura Cupp, and 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.          Roland J. Di Sanza’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday, September 6,2014.  A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church located at 900 E. 11th Street in Ely, NV.  A graveside ceremony will be held immediately following the funeral mass at the Ely City Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Sacred Heart Church Community Hall located across from the church.

A rosary will be held for Roland at 7:00 pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Mountain Vista Funeral Home at 450 Mill St. in Ely.  Flowers may be sent to the Mountain Vista Funeral Home in Ely.
