Behind the kills of Ashlyn Huntington and the digs of Mikalyn Almberg, the White pine High School volleyball swept Lincoln in back to back home games on Sept. 26.

Winning the first game 25-10, 25-23 and the second game 25-20, 25-16 the Ladycats never dropped a match. The wins advanced White Pine into second place in their division with a 5-1 record.

Ladycats coach Kenna Almberg said Huntington and Almberg’s performances were the real standouts, though she wanted to recognize strong efforts by Jerilyn Ogden and Emily Bischoff.

White Pine’s junior varsity squad also walked away with two wins against the visiting school, taking the first game 25-12, 25-14 and the second by a score of 25-22, 25-23.

“They have many talented upcoming players that are going to continue to build a strong volleyball program,” Almberg said of the junior varsity team.

The Ladycats will host Laughlin for two home games beginning at 5 p.m. on Oct 2. And then travel to West Wendover to face the winless Wolverines at 1 p.m. on Oct. 4.

“I hope to have some good competitive games against Wendover and Laughlin this week so we can start using our attacks that we have been working on in practice,” Almberg said.
