Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

OCT. 8

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that someone was sitting inside his vehicle and was making threats to harm him. When officers arrived no one was located in or around the vehicle. The reporting party who was identified as Richard G. Seely age 51 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation

Report of a possible fraud — Reporting party stated that he received a money order for an item he was selling, but the money order was fraudulent. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the attempted purchaser.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her neighbor has special powers and that her neighbor was going to use them on her to make her a cripple and mentally handicapped. Officer contacted the neighbor who denied having such powers.  The reporting party was advised that no special powers would be used on her.

Report of a suspicious subject — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of possible child abuse — Officer received a report of a child that was burned by a cigarette. During the officers investigation the incident was unfounded.

Report of a theft of a bicycle — Reporting party stated that her son’s bike had been stolen about a month ago and she located it at a local school. The juvenile who was riding the bike was contacted who stated he had found the bike. The bike was returned to the owner and the parent of the juvenile who found the bike was contacted and notified of the situation.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her teenage daughter is receiving text messages from an individual and she wants them to stop. Officer is attempting to contact the sender of the text messages.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an animal in the roadway — Officer reported that a deceased cat was removed from the roadway. Richard G. Seely / Probation violation / No bail.

OCT. 9

Report of an alarm — The alarm was accidentally set off by an employee.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed someone tampered with a window on a home he was house watching.  A report was completed.

Report of a hit and run accident — The reporting party found damage to her vehicle after exiting a local store.  A report was completed.

Report of a reckless driver — The reporting party claimed a driver almost caused an unexpected, undesirable event; often physically injurious.  The area was checked, but the offending vehicle was gone.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claims an unknown subject keeps letting air out of her vehicle tire.  A report was completed.

Report of an arrest — A deputy conducted a traffic stop and inevitably arrested the driver, identified as 47 year old Rickey Lee Avery, from Elko.  Avery was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license and various other misdemeanor violations.  The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 48 year old Michael Shane Avery, was issued a citation for open container.  Several items were seized from their vehicle pending a theft investigation.

Report of an attempt to locate: — The reporting party claimed her juvenile sister had left the house with an adult male.  The juvenile was later located and was returned home.  The adult male, identified as 21 year old Benjamin Mason Miller, of Ely, was arrested for loitering where children congregate and obstructing a peace officer.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a male subject was unwanted at a residence.  When officers arrived, the male was gone.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed his OHV was stolen while he was hunting.  The investigation continues.

OCT. 10

Report of a death — Officer reported that James K. Price age 68 of Ely died at his residence of natural causes.

Report of a found bicycle — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of an accident — officer received a report of a vehicle accident that occurred at the Ely Landfill. During the officers investigation of the accident it was determined that Corrine Marrujo of Ely was operating a vehicle and drove it off a dirt embankment causing the vehicle to roll. Marrujo and a passenger in the vehicle were taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a subject had entered into a home and was removing property. Officer contacted the individual who was removing property he believed belonged to him. Officer reported that during his investigation the property in question needed to be settled in probate.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had locked himself out of his residence.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer contacted the individual who needed medical assistance. He was taken to the hospital by the deputy.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen his mediation he had left in his vehicle. Officers have identified the suspect in the theft and the investigation continues.

Report of a person threatening to harm themselves — Officer contacted the person making the threats and she denied the accusations.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had obtained a credit card in his name and had charged numerous items. The credit card company was now wanting him to pay the bill. A fraud report was completed for the reporting party.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual putting up private property signs, but the property belonged to the city of Ely. The individual was contacted and advised to remove the signs.

Report of a parking problem — Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and it was removed.

Report of an accident — Officer reported that James Ferris of Bainbridge Island WA. was operating a vehicle and drove under the awning at the Copper Queen Casino. Due to the height of the vehicle it struck the awning. An accident report was completed.

Report of an accident — Emery Fredenbug of McGill was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him belonging to Melinda McQueen of Ely. Fredenburg’s vehicle struck McQueens vehicle causing damage. Fredenburg was issued a citation for unsafe backing. An accident report was completed.

Report of found camera — The camera was returned to the owner.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Vergal C. Sorenson age 53 of Aurora, UT was arrested for D.U.I. and requirements for turning.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Richard L. Vela age 25 of Ely was arrested for unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance and possession of a controlled substance.

OCT. 11

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that while she was working at a local bar as the bartender she was punched by one of the customers. The bartender was allowed to sign a citizen’s complaint for battery on the individual she claimed struck her.

Report of a found duck — The duck was placed into the duck pond.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that the license plate had been stolen off his rental car. Officer reported that the vehicle had a temporary license placed in the front windshield of the vehicle. No theft had occurred.

Report of a possible drunk driver — The operator of the vehicle was contacted and the she was not intoxicated.

Report of suspicious photos — Reporting party stated that she had located a disturbing photo online. Officer reported that the photo originated from Mexico. No action was taken.

Report of a found fanny pack — The owner of the fanny pack was notified to claim it at the Sheriff’s Office

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of an accident — Officer reported that Travis Morrison of McGill was operating a vehicle traveling on Great Basin Blvd. Anthony Zamora of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling behind Morrison. Morrison stopped his vehicle due to several individuals crossing the street. Zamora was unable to stop his vehicle and collided into the rear of Morrison’s vehicle. Zamora was issued a citation for following too close. The two individuals who were crossing the street were identified as John and Jo Ann Acres of Las Vegas they were both issued citations for crossing at other than crosswalks.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual whom he had problems with in the past made several threats toward him. Officer reported that when the subject making the threats is located he will be issued a citation for harassment.

Report of a welfare check — Officers received a report of an individual who was threatening to harm herself. The individual was residing in California. Officers contacted the local Sheriff’s Office over that jurisdiction in California and provide them with the information.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual panhandling at a local business. The manager of the business wanted the individual removed and trespassed from the property. The individual was contacted and advised.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that she was chased by a dog running at large. The owner of the dog was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of a theft — Officer received a report of an individual who had gone to a local store and removed several items without paying for them. During the officers investigation the individual was identified as Michael S. Avery age 48 of Ely. Avery was arrested for burglary and petit larceny.

Report of a found bracelet — The item was placed into lost and found.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Lucien H. Leflohic age 30 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant.

OCT. 13

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a subject that was suffering from dementia and had become increasing angry. Officer contacted the individual and was able to calm him down.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that while she was at a local business an elderly male driving a vehicle drove his vehicle into the back of her car. The elderly male then fled the scene. The reporting party was able to obtain a license plate off the striking vehicle. Officers are attempting to locate the striking vehicle and operator.

Report of a truancy — Officer received a report of a juvenile student that had missed numerous days of school. The juvenile will be issued a citation for truancy and a report will be sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of an alarm — False alarm. The alarm company was working on the alarm.

Report of missing cats — Reporting party stated that she is missing several of her cats and several others were sick. She believes that someone is possible poising them. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN AGENCY ASSIST

City — officers assisted hospital staff with an individual who needed medical attention, but wanted to leave the hospital. The individual decided to receive the necessary treatment.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

City — officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. They were advised to keep the peace.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK

City — the individual was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF A NOISE DISTURBANCE

City — officer contacted the occupant of the apartment and advised him to turn his music down. The occupant complied.

REPORT OF A POSSIBLE DRUNK DRIVER

The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

City — reporting party stated that several windows and doors are open on a vacant home. The home was checked and the doors and windows were secured.
