Ely will soon become an epicenter for hundreds of gift-filled shoe boxes in support of Operation Christmas, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. From the Grace Foursquare drop-off site, volunteers will be working to reach a collection goal of 106 gift-filled shoe boxes packed by caring Ely-area residents with toys, school supplies, basic hygiene items and notes of encouragement.

Bursting with colorful wrapping paper and energetic volunteers, this collection site will be open during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection week, Nov. 17-24, during the following hours: Nov. 17-23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Nov. 24.

A list of additional collection site locations in the surrounding area, and throughout the country, can be found online. Sue Winder can also be reached for further information about local gift collection activities at 775-289-4111 or windererjr@aol.com.
