The White Pine Chamber of Commerce is planning a Christmas Walk this year along with the annual Community Tree lighting to be held Nov. 28 in the Ely Sculpture Park from 4 – 7 p.m.

The Home Town Backers Band accompanied by the Learning Bridge Charter School Choir will sing festive holiday songs for the evening entertainment.

Again this year non-profit organizations will be able to set up as street vendors offering all sorts of hot drinks, holiday treats and great gift ideas. This is a great opportunity to support the schools groups and our community.  Groups wishing to participate in Christmas Walk may contact Wayne Cameron at the chamber office, 775-289-8877.

With a flourish of fanfare, the Christmas proclamation will be read, marking the beginning of the season.  The lights on the 30-foot community Christmas tree will be turned on and everyone can join in to sing “Oh Christmas Tree” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”  This year, lighted wreaths with silver bows will be added for decorations to the tree.

After the program, a card with a list of participating businesses will be handed out.  Each card is numbered and people may take their card into the businesses to match their numbers to receive door prizes.

Thanks to Erica Skye of radio AM 1610 The Loop for providing the sound system. Also thanks to the WP Tourism and Recreation Board with Ed Spear for the stage. Thanks to the Hometown Band and the Learning Bridge Charter School for music. Thanks to KDSS radio for their promotions.

Plan to attend the Christmas Walk each year to kick off the holiday season and see the lighting of the community tree.11-21 Christmas Walk-1
