A statewide manhunt for Bruce Hendrix, 63, ended early Friday afternoon after Hendrix’s body was discovered inside of his truck on a dirt road in Lincoln County by a group of hunters. Hendrix was discovered deceased, the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head according to White Pine County Sheriff Dan Watts.
Local police began looking for Hendrix after an arrest warrant was issued for the former accountant on one count of murdering his wife and two counts of arson. The body of Hendrix’s wife, Julia Hendrix, had been discovered inside the married couple’s now fire damaged home. Coroners discovered that Hendrix had died due to a gunshot wound before the fire. Julia Hendrix was reported to have asked her husband for a divorce just days prior to her death.
Broken families and broken hearts. May comfort abide, but blessings of joy seem far away this Christmas season. Never-the-less hold on your way and keep faith in the truth you know. Love your family…love yourself…God’s speed.
Such a heartache ..Thoughts of peace to their family
It is difficult to know people that had religious background that teaches the value of families being destroyed. To have murder, arson, and suicide (self-inflicted murder) happen to a family you would think otherwise. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sometimes stress will momentarily enrage the mind to where people react in bizarre and frightful ways. People sometimes just snap and go completely against their rational thinking. Over the years I have had two schoolmates commit suicide. Talked to one person over the phone and sat next to a individual while holding a rifle under his chin. Both were talked out of it. While in the military in basic training shot himself (non-fatal) trying to our of the service and then in Vietnam a soldier in our unit shot himself (non-fatal) wanting to get out of serving. There are others I’ve known who have succeeded. It is a selfish devastating tragedy that will affect not only two families but all their friends. You cannot erase this from your mind. I have thought about this day and night since I read the article since I had known Bruce for many years.
Do you know if Mr. Hendrix had a previous criminal history?
