Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are leased by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

DEC. 3

Report of a death — Officer reported that Katherine A. Kelly age 62 of Ely died at her residence of natural causes.

Report of a suspicions circumstances — Officer received a report of someone in a vacant apartment. Officer located an individual inside the apartment who was the renter. No crime had occurred.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a death — Officer received a report of several individuals inside a vehicle and the reporting party believed they were deceased. When officers arrived on scene they located a female adult and a child inside the vehicle and both were pronounced dead. The vehicle was located on Success Loop Road approximately three mile east of Cave Lake State Park. Officers identified the deceased’s as Sheila A. Ingle age 34 of Las Vegas and her daughter Brooklyn H. Ingle age 3. The Sheriff’s Office had received a report several days prior from family members that had become concerned about the Ingles when they were unable to contact them by phone or through friends. The Sheriff’s Office had sent out a nationwide alert attempting to locate them. Officers attempted to track Ingles cell phone which had last been used Sunday, but the phone had been turned off. The Sheriff’s Office Coroner investigating this incident reported that Sheila Ingle had taken her own life and the life of her daughter.  Investigation continues.

Report of an abandoned vehicle — The vehicle was tagged for removal.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a reckless driver — The operator of the vehicle was contacted and advised about the complaint.

Report of a parking problem — Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the owner. No problems were located.

Report of found property — Officer received a purse that had been left at a local restaurant. The owner of the purse will be notified.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a motorist assist — Officer assisted an individual who had ran out of gas in the Duck Creek Basin area.

DEC. 4

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a female was intoxicated and attempting to take custody of a child after school.  The female was located and made other arrangements to pick up the child.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed she was being harassed via text message.  The other party was contacted and advised to stop texting the reporting party.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed two males were threatening to batter him regarding his behavior with a juvenile female.  The area was checked, but the two males were gone.

Report of fraud — The reporting party claimed to have received a check for property she was selling online, but the check was fraudulent.  The suspect did not receive anything in exchange for the check.  A report was completed.

Report of a domestic dispute — The parties were contacted and were found to be only arguing.  Both parties advised they were done for the night.

Report of a juvenile problem — The reporting party claimed his juvenile daughter would not return home from her adult boyfriend’s home. The juvenile was located and escorted home.

Report of an intoxicated driver — The alleged vehicle was located and the driver was found to be disoriented, but not intoxicated or under the influence.  The driver was assisted in getting home.

DEC. 5

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were engaged in a verbal argument. One of the parties involved packed her belongings and left the apartment. They were all advised to keep the peace.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that he observed an individual attempting to gain access to a storage trailer. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a 911 hangup — Officer contacted the caller who stated that a child was playing with the phone. No problems were reported.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he was having a problem with a utility company. The company was contacted who advised they had a easement to the reporting parties property. The reporting party was advised.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual who was waiting for the bus to take him home.

Report of missing juveniles — Reporting party stated her juvenile sons had ran away from home. Officer reported that two juveniles had left their home and hadn’t returned. Due to the location of the home which is in a rural area of the county, Search and Rescue were called out to help search for the boys. On December 6 the boys returned home and stated they had become lost in the mountains chasing one of their dogs that had ran off. A report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that he observed an individual breaking into a home. Officer contacted the individual who was moving into the home.

Report of an accident — Bridgette Bath-Barney of Ely was operating a vehicle traveling on US 6 when she struck a deer that had entered into the roadway. Damage to the vehicle was documented in the report.

Report of a child left in a vehicle unattended — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle had left the area.

Report of a suicidal subject — The individual was contacted who stated that he was fine. He advised he was attending Mental Health.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was located and was fine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Mary Tognoni age 31 of Ely was arrested on a District Court warrant for contempt of court during the arrest Tognoni was also found to be in possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.

DEC. 6

Report of a reckless driver — Officer located the vehicle and reported that the operator was driving slow looking at Christmas lights.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he was having problems with a renter and wanted him evicted. He was advised of the process for eviction.

Report of possible child abuse — Officer received a report of children being left alone inside a vehicle. Officer located the vehicle and spoke to the parents who were present. They were advised of the consequences of leaving children unattended.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that she observed an individual loitering around a local motel. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a parking problem — Reporting party stated that a vehicle was parked in his parking lot. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and advised to remove it.

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into her business establishment and removed some money from the cash register. Investigation continues.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an employee of his reported that someone had taken money from his residence. Reporting party was advised to have the employee contact the Sheriff’s Office to make the report.

Report of suspicious activity — Reporting party stated that someone had placed a piece of metal on the train tracks and the train had ran over it. The metal was removed and the incident documented.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that John F. Johnson age 52 of Ely was arrested for driving on right side required and D.U.I. # 2

Report of an accident — Wes L. Spear of Ruth was operating a vehicle traveling on the Bench Road when he struck a deer that had entered into the roadway. Damage to Spears vehicle was documented.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been yelling at each other. They were advised to keep the peace.

DEC. 7

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer received a report of an individual who was banging on a door trying to gain access to a residence. Officer located the individual who was identified as Beau C. Moore age 18 of Ely. Moore was arrested for minor in consumption of alcohol.

Report of a stolen vehicle — Reporting party stated that someone had taken her vehicle. Officer located the vehicle parked several blocks away from where the reporting party stated she had parked it. The vehicle was released to the owner.

Report of a possible break in — Reporting party located damage to a door at his place of employment. The owner of the business was contacted who was aware of the damage that had occurred due to a lock being misused.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of a disturbance between two siblings. When officers arrived one of the siblings was packing his belongings and leaving the area. Officers reported that they had been engaged in a verbal argument.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and assisted him with getting a room at a local motel.

Report of a custody problem — Officer contacted the parties involved and advised both of them to follow the court custody order.

DEC. 8

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and contacted the occupants. They were sitting in the vehicle talking. No problems were reported.

Report of a barking dog — Officers located the barking dog, but the owners were not home. Contact with the owner to be made when located.

Report of a threatening phone call — Reporting party stated that he received a telephone call from an individual claiming to be from a government agency. The caller threatened that he was going to arrest the reporting party. Officers advised the reporting party it was a scam and that the caller would be asking for money to alleviate the arrest. The reporting party was advised to avoid the caller if he called back.

Report of a welfare check — Officer located the individual and reported that he was fine.

Report of a truancy — Officer reported that the juvenile will be issued a citation for truancy and a report will be sent to juvenile Probation.

Report of a death — Officer reported James Sorensen age 68 of Cherry Creek died at his residence due to natural causes.

Report of an agency assist — Officers assisted D.C.F.S. with the interview of a child reference possible child abuse. The abuse was unfounded.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Jack D. Rhoades age 26 of McGill died at his residence due to natural causes.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officers received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Nickolas Betlach age 25 of Ely was arrested. Betlach was arrested for domestic battery. He is accused of battering his girlfriend.

Report of a welfare check —
Officer attempted to make contact with the individual, but the person was not at home.

Report of a house fire — Officers received a report of a home that was on fire. The Ely Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. During the investigation of the fire an individual was located in the home who was deceased. The individual has not been identified and the investigation continues.

DEC. 9

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen his tools he uses as an engineer from his vehicle. Investigation continues.

Report of a found wallet — The wallet was returned to the owner.

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised him of the complaint. The occupant turned his music down.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he was looking for his dog that had ran off and questioned an individual if he had seen the dog. The reporting party stated that the individual made threats towards him. Officer contacted the individual who stated that the reporting party made threats towards him and accused him of hiding his dog. The parties involved were advised to stay away from each other.

Report of an accident — Nathan Young of Ely reported that while operating a vehicle on SR 893 he struck an elk causing damage to his vehicle. An accident report was completed.
