After winning the NCAA National Championship game in 1990 against Duke, Coach Jerry Tarkanian told the national televised audience that the Championship was not just for Las Vegas, but for the entire state of Nevada.
In the spirit of this sentiment and in honor of Coach Tarkanian, his son, Danny, is reaching out to rural Nevada by offering free basketball clinics to students as the Tarkanian Basketball Academy tours the entire state. His first stop will be in Ely Nevada on Friday, Jan. 16, 2014.
This event will take place at White Pine High School, and will consist of two sessions. The first session will be at 1 p.m. and the second session will begin at 3 p.m. The clinic is open to boys and girls ages six through eighteen and It is not required that they be currently involved in sports to attend.
The clinic will consist of both speaking to the students about the importance of playing sports and competition, along with teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Each student that attends the clinic will receive a free Tarkanian Basketball Academy T-Shirt.
