JAN. 28

Report of a disturbance / arrest — Officer received a report of a music disturbance coming from a local apartment. When officers attempted to contact the occupant of the residence he fled the area. He was apprehended as he did so. He was identified as Steve R. Groben II age 40 of Ely. Groben was arrested on a probation violation and for resisting arrest.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of several vehicles that had slid off the roadway on US 50 due to icy road conditions. Officer assisted NHP with traffic control while the vehicles were being removed.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he was arguing with family member over the separation of property. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Lucrecia Romero age 25 of Ely was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant for failure to appear.

Report of a death — Officer received a report of a welfare check on an individual who hadn’t been seen in a few days. Officers entered the individual’s apartment and located the individual who was deceased. She was identified as Deanna L. More age 57 of Ely. More was transported to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine her cause of death.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his motel room and stole several items. Investigation continues.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted an individual who was playing his TV too loud. He was advised to turn the volume down.

Report of a suspicious subject — A male subject was reportedly looking into a yard of a residence that was not his.  The area was checked, but the male was not found.

Report of an arrest — Jacob Hallett, 23, of Kerns, UT, turned himself in for a warrant.

Report of a problem with a subject — 20 year old Schyler Roberts, of Ely, came to the Public Safety building to serve time in the jail for a previous conviction.  During his booking, it was discovered that Roberts was attempting to smuggle contraband into the jail.  Roberts was booked on the new charges.

New bookings — Jacob Hallett – Warrant for domestic battery / Bail $550. Schyler Roberts – Serving time for Ely Justice Court. Schyler Roberts – unauthorized communication with a prisoner, Introducing a telecommunication devise into a jail – Bail $710.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was checked, but the vehicle was gone.

Report of a private property accident — Kuniko Canterbury, of Ely, backed from a parked position and began pulling forward, striking a light pole.  A report was completed.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed an ex-employee took personnel records prior to her being terminated.  The investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — 29 year old Ely resident, Heather Carrasco was arrested for an outstanding Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was not located.

Report of an arrest — 47 year old Ely resident Anthony Whitten was arrested for an outstanding municipal Court warrant.

Report of a reckless driver — The vehicle was located, but did not exhibit any reckless behavior.

Report of a civil problem — The reporting party claimed he was having an issue with the children of his former girlfriend regarding property she gave him.  The reporting party was advised the issue was civil and to contact an attorney.

Report of a problem with a subject — Both parties were contacted and it was discovered that they had been arguing.  Both parties separated for the night.  One of the parties involved, identified as Laurie Shifflet, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a female subject with a dog refused to leave a local gaming establishment.  Contact was made with the female, who then complied and left.

Report of an arrest — While conducting a walk-through of a local gaming establishment, contact was made with 41 year old Ely resident, Michael Carlgren.  Carlgren was found to be in violation of his parole and was arrested.

JAN. 31

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a female had been trespassed from his workplace previously.  The female returned tonight and, when he told her to leave, she battered him.  The reporting party was allowed to sign a citizen’s complaint, which will be served on the female when she is located.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — A vehicle was reportedly driving very slowly.  Contact was made with the driver who claimed she was driving slowly because of ice on the road.

Report of an arrest — A deputy conducted a traffic stop for a minor violation and made contact with the driver, identified as 24 year old Ely resident Ricardo Delrio.  It was discovered Delrio had a revoked driver’s license and was arrested.  During the arrest, Delrio continually used loud and tumultuous language, disturbing the peace.  While this was occurring, a deputy contacted 23 year old Ely resident Paulette Newman, who was a passenger in the vehicle.  Newman also used loud and tumultuous language and struck the deputy with the car door.  While being placed under arrest, Newman resisted and again struck the deputy, which in custody.  Both were transported to the Public Safety Building without further incident.

Report of suspicious circumstances — A vacant home reportedly had an open window.  The building was checked and found to be secure.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Three children were reportedly huffing behind a local business.  The children were contacted and found to be playing a game, not huffing.

Report of an injury accident — Joseph Grapes Jr, of Ely, pulled into the roadway from a private drive and was struck by Sandra Winter, also from Ely.  Grapes was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Report of an arrest — 19 year old Ely resident Taylor Draper was arrested for an outstanding Municipal Court warrant.

FEB. 1

Report of an open door — A deputy found an open door on a closed business.  The building was secured.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party found that someone had placed nails in front of his garage.  A report was completed.

Report of a barking dog — The reporting party complained about a dog barking in the neighborhood.  The dog was located and the owner, Colleen Crossman, was issued a citizen’s complaint citation for barking dog.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and found to be healthy and happy.

Report of an accident — Due to a mechanical malfunction, a vehicle driven by Ely resident Chris Lani left the roadway and struck a fence.  A report was completed.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party was letting her dog run in a vacant open field, when the dog returned to her carrying what appeared to be a human hand.  The remains were later examined and found to be a decomposing bear paw.

Report of identity theft — The reporting party was filing her taxes and was advised someone had already filed taxes using her social security number.  A report was completed.

Report of a custody problem — The reporting party claimed his ex-wife wouldn’t allow him visitation of their child.  A report was completed and the reporting party was advised to contact his attorney.

Report of a problem with a subject — An employee of a local gaming establishment reported an intoxicated male damaging property in the bathroom.  The male was identified as 42 year old Malfredo Anzar, of Lodi, CA.  Anzar was later arrested for injury to property.

Report of an intoxicated subject — The reporting party claimed an intoxicated female kept trying to come into his house.  When officers arrived, they made contact with the female, identified as 64 year old Ely resident Terry Ann Betschart.  Betschart was intoxicated and kept repeatedly yelling.  Betschart was arrest for disturbing the peace.

Report of an alarm — The business was checked and found to be secure.

REPORT OF AN ARREST:

A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 29 year old Idaho resident Murillo Joel Aguilar.  It was discovered Aguilar had a warrant for his arrest from another agency.  Aguilar was arrest without incident.

REPORT OF A SEX CRIME:

The reporting party claimed to have been sexually assaulted several months ago.  The investigation continues.
