Bruce Marvin Lillegard, 72, died on January 22,2015 in Boise, ID. He was born on February 24, 1942 to Raymond Ross Lillegard and Norma Elizabeth Zink Lillegard in Boise, ID. He graduated from Boise Senior High in 1961 and received his bachelor’s degree from Boise State College in 1968.

Even though, as a young child, polio left Bruce with some physical difficulties, he had a strong sense of character and humor. He retired from Ely Grade School in Ely, Nevada after 33 years of teaching. Often he would tell stories about his teaching experiences and how much joy those experiences gave him. Many of his friends from Ely have kept in touch with him. A few years after retirement, he returned to Boise to be near family and friends. Many happy times and much love surrounded Bruce during those years. He was “the best uncle ever”.

His cabin in Round Valley was his favorite place to be and he spent all his summers there. Bruce was an “out of doors” kind of guy. He loved working around his cabin, going 4-wheeling with his friend Scott, sitting on his deck enjoying the view, and participating in family vacations.

His is survived by his sisters, Myrna VanCour of Eagle, ID and Lois Asher of Roseburg, OR; seven nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and his friend, Scott Mingus.

A special thank you to the CCU staff at St. Luke Hospital for their kind and gentle care. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a later date.
