Kennith Roy Butcher, born June 26, 1942, met his heavenly father on January 2, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family as he slipped into the loving arms of Jesus.
He leaves behind his loving mother Adeline (Ada) Butcher, Carlin, NV; wife Pamela (Pam) Butcher, Toledo, WA; son Ken (Kenny) Butcher, Elma, WA; brothers Robert D (Bob) Butcher, Overton, NV; Paul D (Peggy ) Butcher, Spring Creek, NV; sister Donn M (Butcher) Bogdon, Carlin, NV; Grandson Colan Butcher, Elma, WA; step children Tracie and David; step grandchildren Lexie and Hayle,Toledo, WA and his favorite little dog “Pistol”.
Ken graduated from White Pine High School, in 1960 and married Mary Wells (Butcher) Olson. After their divorce in 1965, he joined the Army and was stationed n Germany. Viet Nam was in full swing by then and Ken felt he was not serving his country the way he should. He wrote to the then Senator Alan Bible for assistance to be transfered to Viet Nam. After many letters between Ken and Senator Bible, he received his transfer. The letters between Ken and the Senator are a matter of public record and are recorded in the Congressional record dated June 6, 1967. Ken spent a year in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged from the Army. Ken found his niche in life as an officer with Metro P.D. in Las Vegas, NV where he worked for the next 26 years. He was made “Officer of the Year” in 1977. Ken and his wife Pam retired to Toledo, WA where he raised mini-horses, which he loved.
Ken was preceeded in death by his father Paul F Butcher; baby son Kevin Joseph; his sister-in-law Georgia Frandsen Butcher, all of his grandparents as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
We will always remember Ken’s quick wit and humor which was immeasurable. It was always his aim in life to bring a smile to as many faces as he could, which was everyone he met. We love you, Ken.
