Diane was born on June 13, 1933 in McGill, Nevada, to Henry Paul and Melba Slater. Diane was a true native of McGill living away from there for only a short time in her life. She graduated from WPHS in 1951 and attended BYU for nearly two years. A handsome GI, Dick Munson, had just returned home from Korea, and a friendship that started in the fourth grade blossomed into a love that would endure for 60 years. They were married for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on July 15, 1955.
Diane’s life before marriage was filled with music and education. An accomplished pianist Diane taught music to two generations of White Pine County residents.
After marriage she devoted her life to her husband and 6 children. A perfect example of a homemaker she served them all tirelessly every day. Numerous Afghans, scarfs, hot pads and other crocheted items were made with love and distributed to many friends and family members. Diane loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and served him her entire life. Countless dinner dances and projects were headed up by her and were alwaysdone to perfection. She was the organist for the McGill Ward for over 40 years and she touched many with her quiet testimony.
Diane also had a love for gardening. She loved nothing more than digging in the dirt, and seeing new life grow. Beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens and the greenest lawns ever were her trademark.
Diane is survived by her husband, Dick, daughter-in-law Kristl Munson, sons; Mick (Margaret) Munson, Joel Munson (Sergio), Craig (Teresa) Munson, Deland (Suzette) Munson and daughter; Erin (David) Costello,17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, sister, Vicki Terry, brothers; Darold and Wayne Slater.
