MARCH 17

Report of a problem with a subject: — The reporting party initially reported being harassed by a male subject, but became uncooperative when officers contacted her.  Report unfounded.

Report of an alarm — The alarm was accidentally triggered by an employee.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and was fine.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and found to be in medical distress.  He was transported to the hospital by an ambulance.

Report of a shoplifter — The owner observed a patron shoplifting and then flee the store.  A citizen’s complaint was signed and will be issued to the suspect.

Report of a problem with a subject — A local utility reported being threatened by a homeowner, who’s utility they were turning off for nonpayment.  The homeowner was contacted and was upset over the situation.  He was advised not to threaten the employees who, were only doing their job.

Report of an alarm — The alarm was found to be false.

Report of a robbery — The reporting party claimed his house was robbed and his wife had been abducted.  It was later learned that the wife was under medical care and the reporting party suffers from Alzheimer’s.  Report unfounded.

Report of an injured dog — Officer received a report of a dog that had been struck by a vehicle. The owner of the dog was contacted and advised.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that his wallet had been stolen while he was staying at a local motel. During the investigation the wallet was located inside the motel room.

Report of a truancy x 4 — The juveniles was issued a citations for truancy and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was trapping cats and then killing them. Investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Benjamin M. Miller age 21 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Bobbi L. Mathewson age 29 of Ely was arrested on a probation violation and use of a controlled substance.

Report of a possible prowler — The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer located a semi-truck running in the area. The driver was contacted and advised to move the vehicle.

MARCH 19

Report of a missing person — The reporting party claimed her adult daughter hadn’t contacted her in several days.  It was later learned the daughter moved to another town.  Information was passed onto law enforcement in that area.

Report of found property — A citizen found money in a parking lot and turned it in.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party claimed a third party called her to rent a house they didn’t have the authority to rent and advised they were from out of the country.  The reporting party knew the call was fraudulent, and requested a report be made.

Report of an arrest — 42 year old Nathan Godown, of Las Vegas, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Report of illegal dumping — The reporting party saw a vehicle in a rural area and believed the driver was going to illegally dump refuse.  A deputy checked the area, but the vehicle was gone.

Report of a welfare check — The subject could not be located.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a juvenile threw an unknown substance on a school bus.  Follow-up to be done with the juvenile and his parents.

Report of an arrest — 22 year old Ely resident Malachi Olson was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed an intoxicated male walked into her house, and then left.  A male matching the description was later located.  He was intoxicated and was advised to go home.  He said he would comply.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to have gotten into a fight with a passerby as he was walking.  The area was checked for the other subject, but he was not located.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to be having problems with an argumentative guest in her home.  The guest had left prior to law enforcement arrival.

MARCH 20

Report of a domestic battery — Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During the officers investigation Ricky T. Miears Jr. age 25 of Ely was arrested. Miears was arrested for domestic battery, he is accused of battering his girlfriend.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle which was unoccupied, but running. The owner of the vehicle was contacted who advised she was allowing the vehicle to warm up.

Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of a small child walking in the roadway. The area was patrolled, but the child was not located.

Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of an older male subject who appeared to be confused and was unable to find his way home. The area was patrolled, but he was not located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a lost wallet — Reporting party stated that he had lost his wallet. The incident was documented.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his ex-girlfriend and taken the license plates off his vehicle and surrendered them to DMV. Officer investigated the incident and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a vehicle fire — The Ely Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Report of an accident — Viola McNay of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. She failed to see a parked and unoccupied vehicle behind her belonging to Jennifer Drew of Ely. McNays vehicle struck Drew’s vehicles causing damage. An accident report was completed and McNay was issued a citation for unsafe backing.

Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of a small child looking for his brother. The child and was contacted along with his guardian. The child and brother had wondered away from their play area.

Report of underage drinkers — Officer contacted the occupants of the home and reported that no underage drinkers were located

Report of possible child abuse — Reporting party stated that when her grandchild came to visit there was a bruise on her face. When the child was questioned about the bruise several different stories were given. Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance — Officer made contact with several individuals who were engaged in a loud conversation. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a fight — Officer reported that when they arrived the individuals had left the area.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Lani L. Hawkins age 53 of Ely was arrested for DUI, Failure to obey traffic control device, driver’s license in possession and no insurance.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officers received a report of several juveniles riding a go-cart in the roadway. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a disturbance — Officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance at a local residence. Officer contacted the parties involved and one of the individuals involved was requested to leave the residence.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer contacted the individual who was not driving. He was warned if he did so he would be arrested.

Report of an accident / private property — Alice M. Jacoby of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. Ronald E. Schaefer of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. Both parties failed to see each other causing an accident. An accident report was completed.

Report of an injured subject — Officer contacted the individual who had sustained several injures during a fall. The individual requested no assistance.

MARCH 22

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of several individuals arguing over a game of pool. The individuals were contacted and advised to keep the peace.

Report of a hit and run accident — Vicente Ramos of Ely reported that while his vehicle was parked on a public street another vehicle had struck it. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. During the officers investigation the striking vehicle was located along with the operator. The operator was identified as Zakkary S. Gregersen of Ely. He was issued a citation for hit and run and immediate notice to police

Report of an unattended child — Officer located a small child walking in the roadway. During the officers investigation the child had wondered off from the babysitter. The babysitter was contacted who was unaware of the childs whereabouts. Officer identified the babysitter as Elizabeth Hedges age 22 of Ely. Hedges was arrested for child neglect.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual refusing to leave his motel room. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles throwing rocks at passing cars. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Bonnie H. Wallace age 65 of Ely died at her residence. Officer reported that Wallace died of natural causes.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that someone has been knocking on her door and then they run off. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that an individual had been using her Face Book account. Officer attempted to contact the individual, but she was not located.

Report of a missing person — Officer reported that the individual had been treated at medical facility outside the Ely area. The information was provided to his family.

Report of identity theft — Reporting party stated that someone has been using her daughter’s social security number. A report was completed.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that she received a telephone call stating that an individual was going to damage her property. The incident was documented.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Shelby J. Ogden age 23 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant.

Report of a fight — Officer received a report of several juveniles that had been fighting at a local school. The juveniles were contacted and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Ericka D. Skye age 38 of Ely was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant. During the arrest she was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report of harassing phone calls — Reporting party stated that she is receiving unwanted telephone calls from an individual. The individual was contacted and advised not to call the reporting party.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Delores Sedgwick age 39 of McGill was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and she was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Norman J. Nielsen age 32 of Las Vegas was arrested for driving suspended, no insurance, license plate lamp required, and obstructed windshield.

Report of a disturbance — Officer made contact with an individual who was revving the motor on his vehicle. He was advised to keep the peace.

Report of an arrest—City officer reported that Meldon M. Mike age 40 of window Rock, AZ was arrested of D.U.I., open container, and basic speed.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that David T. Delvecchio age 70 of Yuma, AZ. was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant, a Wells Township Justice Court warrant, and for D.U.I., driving revoked, and intimidating a public officer.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer assisted school staff with a child that was being disruptive. The incident was documented.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance at a local business. The individual was contacted and advised to keep the peace.

Report of threats — Reporting party stated that she is receiving threats over her cell phone. The sender of the messages was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a customer causing a problem at a local business. When officers arrived the individual had left the area.

Report of a possible violation of a protective order — Officer spoke to the parties involved and reported that no violation had occurred.

Report of a problem with a renter — Reporting party stated that she is having problems with several of her renters. She was advised to obtain and eviction notice.

Report of an accident — Naomi Nelson of McGill was operating a vehicle making a left turn from Aultman Street on to Great Basin Blvd. Nelson failed to yield to a vehicle being operated by James Price of Ely who was traveling on Aultman Street. Nelsons vehicle struck Prices vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed and Nelson was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Report of an open door — Officer reported that an open door was located on a closed business. The business was checked and the door secured.
