The lack of Residential and Commercial addressing, visible addresses, especially residential, continues to be a problem for our emergency responders in our community.
International Residential Fire Code R319.1 and Commercial International Fire Code 505.1 requires that new and existing buildings shall have an approved address numbers or approved ID to be placed in a position legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These Numbers shall contrast with their background.
Numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches (101.6mm) with a maximum stroke of 0.5 inches (12.7mm).
Where access is by means of a private road and the building cannot be viewed from the public way, a monument or pole or other sign or means shall be used to identify the structure. Address numbers shall be maintained.
