The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, arrives in Ely on June 8 for the Jungle Book with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and cast 50-60 local students to perform in the production. Auditions are Monday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m., in the David E. Norman gymnasium for all White Pine County School District students from grades 1-12. MCT’s mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre will be part of the White Pine County Gifted Camps beginning June 8 with evening performances on Friday, June 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 13 at 1 p.m. at White Pine Middle School. The Missoula Children’s Theatre has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.
