Information will not be withheld at the requests of persons whose names appear in the blotter or elsewhere in the newspaper that are released by law enforcement agencies that include the WPCSO, Nevada Highway Patrol, Ely Shoshone Tribal Police and other local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement agencies.

JULY 15

Report of property damage — Officer received a report of several juveniles that had damaged some sprinklers at the McGill Park. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The vehicle was located and no crime had occurred.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that his juvenile son had taken his car without his permission. Officer contacted the juvenile and advised him to return home with the car.

Report of an unattended fire — Officer received a report of a fire pit fire that was left unattended. Officer contacted the owner of the property and advised him of the complaint.  He was advised to extinguish the fire.

Report of a found knife — Reporting party found a knife on her property. The knife was collected and disposed of.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the occupant of the home and reported that he had fallen and injured himself. He was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was at his place of business causing a disturbance. The individual was contacted who was yelling at the reporting party over services provided. The individual was trespassed from the property.

Report of a death — Officer reported that Fred I. Litchfield age 75 of Ely died at his residence of natural causes.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had locked herself out of her residence.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her neighbor is always calling small children to his yard to speak to them. The neighbor was contacted and advised not to have contact with the children.

Report of an open door — Officer received a report of an open door on a vacant building. The building was checked and the owner was advised to secure the door.

Report of a parking violation — Officer located the owner of the vehicle and she removed it.

Report of a disturbance — Officer received a report of loud music coming from a residence. Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised him to turn his music down.

Report of a suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that someone was shooting his windows on his residence with an airsoft gun or BB gun. The area was patrolled, but no suspects were located.

JULY 16

Report of an animal problem — The reporting party claimed several people were trying to chase some deer.  The deer were gone when officers arrived.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to have sold her vehicle to another subject, but was unhappy with the way the title of the vehicle was being handled.  She was advised the situation was civil.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed two females were harassing him.  The females were contacted and warned about their behavior.

Report of a dog problem — The reporting party claimed to be followed by a dog at large.  The canine was taken into custody by animal control.

Report of a trespasser — The reporting party wanted her adult son kicked out of her house, although she has allowed him to live there.  The reporting party was advised she would have to address the situation via the eviction process.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed to have been shot at with an airsoft gun by an unknown person.  The area was checked, but neither airsoft pellets, nor the alleged shooter was located.

Report of a private property accident — Kevin Okendley, of Maine, struck an awning of a local business.  A report was completed.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but no vehicle was found matching the description provided.

Report of a barking dog — The officer checked the area, but there were no barking dogs.

JULY 17

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had taken her purse while she was at a local bar. Officer located the person who had taken the purse who stated he had done it for a joke. The purse was returned.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that an individual had come to her home and was challenging her husband to fight. Officer contacted the individual and during his investigation arrested Michael M. Morrill age 44 of Elsinore, UT. He was arrested for disturbing the peace.

Report of a found bicycle — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he had a problem with one of his renters over the use of a trailer. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles climbing into a window on a vacant home. The home was checked and the window secured. The juveniles were not located.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that a tire on her vehicle had been damage. Officer checked the tire and reported that it had occurred naturally.

Report of a welfare check — Officer checked the home, but the individual was not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the day.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that he had bought an item at a local store and had placed some money on the counter. He then forgot to pick up the money when he left the store. He returned to get the money, but it was gone. The incident was documented.

Report of a found bicycle — The bike was placed into lost and found.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were jumping on tables at a local park. The area was patrolled, but the juveniles were not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved and during their investigation Devan K. Braden age 24 of Ely was arrested. Braden was arrested for domestic battery and false imprisonment. He is accused of battering his girlfriend and not allowing her to leave the residence.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer reported that an individual was looking for his cat. No crime had occurred.

JULY 18

Report of a traffic problem — Reporting party stated that someone had placed a traffic cone in the roadway. The cone was removed.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a suspicious phone call — Reporting party stated that she received a phone call that was threatening. The caller then hung up. The incident was documented.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who stated that they had been involved in an altercation. Both parties blamed the other for the incident. The parties separated for the day.

Report of a found wallet — The owner of the wallet was contacted and will claim it at the Sheriff’s Office.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that an individual was posting rude comments about her on Face Book. She was advised to block him off her page.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of an accident that occurred on Overland Road in White Pine County. During his investigation it was determined that Logan Roseland of Ruby Valley was operating a vehicle traveling east bound. Lee Hill of Spring Creek was operating a vehicle traveling west bound. Both vehicles entered into a blind curve and neither operator seen the others vehicle. Both vehicles collided head on causing damage to the others vehicles. An accident report was completed.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were several brothers arguing over cleaning duties. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that several individuals were stealing wood from her wood pile. Officers patrolled the area, but they were not located.

Report of a noise complaint — Officer located several people having a barbeque in their yard. They were contacted and advised to keep the peace.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a vehicle chasing deer — Reporting party stated that a vehicle was chasing deer up the roadway. The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who gave conflicting statements on what had occurred. The parties involved separated for the night.

JULY 19

Report of a motorist assist — Officer received a report of a vehicle that was blocking the roadway. Officer located the vehicle and due to mechanical problems it was disabled in the roadway. The vehicle was removed off the road and the operator will repair it at a later date.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of an intoxicated pedestrian — Officer received a report of an intoxicated person walking down the roadway. The area was patrolled, but he was not located.

Report of a unlicensed driver — Office located the vehicle and contacted the operator. The operator was driving suspended and he was issued a citation for doing so.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual and he was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer received a report of a possible drunk driver that was operating a vehicle in a reckless manner. Officer located the vehicle and during his investigation arrested the operator who was identified as Benjamin J. Pierce age 52 of Ely. Pierce was arrested for D.U.I., under the influence of a controlled substance, drinking while driving, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who were arguing over the use of prescription medication. The parties were advised to keep the peace.

Pierce / D.U.I., drinking while driving, under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia/ Bail $15,000. Isreal Alverado / Basic speed and driving suspended / Bail $1,045 / Arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

JULY 20

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that while some friends were visiting her one of them stole her medication. Investigation continues.

Report of a hit and run accident — Reporting party stated that someone had ran over a fence post and then struck a building. The vehicle the fled the scene. A report was completed.

Report of found keys — The keys were placed into lost and found.

Report of speeding vehicles — Reporting party stated that vehicles are constantly speeding on Lackawanna Road. The area will be patrolled.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen his phone. Contact was made with the individual who returned the phone. No other action was taken upon the request of the reporting party.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had siphoned gas out of her vehicle. The incident was documented.

Report of dogs at large — Officer located the dogs and contacted the owner. She was advised to keep the dogs contained.

JULY 22

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer reported that he contacted a juvenile who was out past the hours of curfew. The juvenile was detained and later released to her parent. An adult that was with the juvenile was issued a citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Report of possible drug paraphernalia — Reporting party stated that he observed some drug paraphernalia at a local park. The area was searched, but nothing was located.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen his cell phone. The incident was documented.

Report of an accident — Jim Doutre of Ely was operating a vehicle pulling into a parked position. As he did so he struck a parked vehicle belonging to Krystal Abbott of Ely. An accident report was completed.

Report of an accident — Jan Wouters was operating a vehicle traveling on US 50 when she struck a deer causing damage to her rental car. An accident report was completed.

Report of an animal rescue — Officer received a report of a cat that was stuck in a tree. Officer took a ladder and was able to reach the cat and rescue it from its predicament.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he broke up with his girlfriend and needed to get his money out of her vehicle. Officer spoke to the ex-girlfriend who gave the reporting party his money.
