JULY 29

Report of threats — Officer received a report of an individual who was threatening to harm a person that he had an argument with. Officer is attempting to locate the individual who made the threats.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that he needed to gain access to a well that was on another person’s property. Officer contacted the property owner who didn’t want the person on their property. The reporting party was advised it was a civil problem.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a fire — Report was given to the BLM

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that a friend had borrowed her vehicle and wouldn’t return it. Reporting party stated that the friend then advised her that the vehicle had been towed due to it breaking down. The incident was documented.

Report of an ATV problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were riding their ATV’s on the roadway and it was tearing up the road. The area was patrolled, but the ATV’s were not located.

Report of a suicidal subject — The report was given to Ely Tribal Police.

Report of deer in the roadway — The area was patrolled, but the deer had left the area.

Report of a propane smell — Officer reported that an individual had performed work on a propane tank and it had caused the smell.

JULY 30

Report of a music disturbance — Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised him to turn his music down. He complied.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Schyler L. Roberts age 21 of Ely was arrested on an East Line Justice Court warrant out of West Wendover, NV.  Elko County.

Report of an ATV disturbance — The area was patrolled, but the ATV was not located.

Report of suspicious phone calls — Reporting party stated that his child was receiving unwanted phone calls from an individual. Officer contacted the caller and reported that the caller’s number had been duplicated and he wasn’t the one making the calls. The incident was documented.

Report of a reckless driver — Officer located the operator of the vehicle and advised him of the complaint. A warning was issued.

Report of an accident — Reporting party, Robert Bennett of Lund stated that he was operating a vehicle traveling down Cave Valley Road pulling a horse trailer. As he entered into a turn another vehicle driven by an unknown female struck the side of his trailer causing damage. The female driver fled the scene. Investigation continues.

Report of an ATL — The individual was located and assisted back to his residence.

Report of a dead deer in the roadway — The deer was removed.

JULY 31

Report of a parking violation — When the officer arrived, the vehicle was gone.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The vehicle was located parked and unoccupied.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was checked but the suspected vehicle was not located.

Report of a reckless driver — A vehicle was reportedly driving in and out of a travel lane.  The officer located the vehicle and spoke to the sole occupant, 49 year old Craig Todd Widdison of Dolan Springs, AZ.  Widdison was later arrested for driving under the influence.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party observed someone in a house that was being constructed. Officers checked the house, but no one was found in the area.

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party observed a flashlight on inside of a vacant residence.  The house was checked, but no one was found inside.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officers arrived and spoke to the parties involved.  Both claimed to have been battered by the other.  Officers were unable to determine a primary physical aggressor.  A report was completed which will be submitted to the City Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Report of a juvenile problem — Several juveniles were reportedly throwing apples at passing vehicles.  When the officer arrived, the juveniles were gone.

AUG. 1

Report of an arrest — A deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, identified as 20 year old John Slater, of Wells.  Slater was later arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Report of a theft — The agent of a local convenience store reported discovering someone shoplifting on the security camera, after the suspect left the store.  The investigation continues.

Report of a private property accident — Amy Ulibarri, of Ely, reported she swerved when a child ran in front of her, causing her to strike a parked vehicle.  A report was completed.

Report of a civil problem — The reporting party sold a vehicle to another person, who later became unhappy with the sale and wanted the money returned.  She was advised the incident was civil in nature.

Report of drug paraphernalia — The alleged device was found not to be drug related.

Report of found property — The property was returned to the owner.

Report of a sex crime — The reporting party claimed to have been assaulted, but it was later determined unfounded.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject stole her son’s bicycle.  A report was completed.

Report of a juvenile problem — Several juveniles were reportedly attempting to enter an abandoned building.  The building was checked and found to be empty.

Report of a dog at large — The dog was captured and placed in the pound.

Report of a juvenile problem — Several juveniles were reportedly throwing eggs at passing vehicles.  The area was checked, but the juveniles had already fled.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and claimed to be fine.

Report of an arrest — 39 year old Eduardo A Cabrera of Las Angeles, was arrested on a warrant while on a traffic stop.

AUG. 2

Report of suspicious circumstances — The reporting party believed an unknown person has been following him from the state of Oregon. He was advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office if he observed the subject again.

Report of a hit and run — The reporting party claimed an unknown vehicle struck her vehicle while it was parked and unoccupied.  A report was completed.

Report of a reckless driver — The vehicle was located and the driver claimed to have been tired.  He was warned about fatigued driving.

Report of a juvenile problem — The juvenile reporting party claimed another juvenile battered him.  This was corroborated by other witnesses.  The suspect denied any wrongdoing.  A report was completed and will be submitted to Juvenile Probation.

Report of an animal problem — An animal was reportedly struck by a vehicle.  The area was checked and the animal was found off of the roadway.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The area was checked, but the vehicle was gone.

AUG. 3

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed he was missing items from his home.  He believed his son may have taken them, but was unsure because he has been unable to contact him.  The investigation continues.

Report of a non-injury private property accident — Leslie Mouser, of McGill, was backing from a parked position and struck a parked vehicle.  A report was completed.

Report of an injury accident — Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, Bob Bartlett, of Ely, was traveling west through a light controlled intersection.  Jessica Lani, of Ely, was driving north and failed to stop a red light, causing both vehicles to collide.  Several passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Report of a reckless driver — The reporting party complained about a vehicle driving recklessly in his neighborhood daily.  A report was completed.

Report of an arrest — Anthony Robert Apodaca-Buckner was arrested for two warrants from Ely Municipal Court.

Report of a business alarm — The alarm was found to be false.

Report of a dog at large — When officers arrived, the dog had returned home. The owner was advised of the complaint.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed someone stole numerous items from his home.  The investigation continues.

AUG. 4

Report of an open door — While conducting door checks, a deputy discovered an open door on a closed business. The building was checked and the owner was contacted to secure the door.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone broke into a building he owned.  Upon arrival, the deputy discovered a window covering had been removed, but it didn’t appear anyone made entry into the building.

Report of a theft — The reporting party, the manager of a local business, claimed a former employee had stolen merchandise. The manager provided video of the theft and he was allowed to sign a citizen’s complaint.  The citation will be served when the suspect is located.

Report of fraud — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject made several unauthorized charges on his credit card in another state.  A report was completed.

Report of a parking violation — The reporting party complained about a vehicle which was parked, blocking her driveway.  A responsible person to the car was located and arranged for the car to be moved.

Report of fraud — The reporting party received a phone call from an alleged debt collector, who began screaming at her on the phone.  Contact was later made with the company.  The investigation is ongoing to determine the validity of the company.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM:

The reporting party claimed her son left the house and she was concerned for his welfare.  Contact was made with the son, who said he was fine and just went for a ride on his bike.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC BATTERY:

Deputies responded to a residence on a report of a domestic dispute.  Based on witness statements and evidence, 21 year old Austin Andrus of McGill was arrested for using force against a person with whom he is in a dating relationship.

REPORT OF A THEFT:

City – the reporting party claimed someone stole her son’s bike, and she observed it near a local motel.  Contact was made with a subject at the motel who advised the bike was given to her by a friend.  The bike was returned to the original owner, who did not want to sign a complaint for theft.

REPORT OF A MUSIC DISTURBANCE:

Contact was made with the suspects, who agreed to turn the music down.

REPORT OF A BARKING DOG:

City – when the officer arrived, no dogs were barking.

REPORT OF A FIGHT:

City – several parties were involved in an argument and fight involving child custody.  The parties were separated when officers arrived.  A report will be submitted to the City Attorney for possible prosecution.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM:

City – several juveniles were reportedly playing in the street.  Contact was made with the juveniles, who apologized and moved out of the road.
