As national home prices continue to increase, Nevada Rural Housing Authority makes affordable housing a continued priority by expanding its Home at Last loan program. Home at Last has helped nearly 4,000 families become home owners within the state of Nevada. The updated Home at Last program includes both government (FHA, VA and USDA Rural Development) and conventional (HFA Preferred) loan alternatives coupled with granted down payment assistance of up to 5 percent, depending on loan type. Loans are available to non-first-time home buyers and in rural areas throughout the state. The Home at Last program expansions were in response to lender and homebuyer feedback to provide more down payment and closing cost assistance options for borrowers. These enhancements, combined with a decline in FHA’s mortgage insurance premium, implemented earlier in 2015, will help entice borrowers with low-to-moderate incomes into the housing market. The new Home at Last suite of loan products became available to lenders and homebuyers as of Tuesday, Sept. 8.
