Betty L. Perkins passed away at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington on September 5, 2015, just 8 days short of her 85th birthday.
Betty was born September 13, 1930 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Layton Vaugh Goff and Violet Mae Fausett.
She was married to John Ellsworth Dolney in Park City, Utah on October 24, 1949 and the couple welcomed two children, Tamra and John. Betty later married Jerry Perkins on May 4, 1977 in Ely, NV.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Layton Leroy Goff, Maynard Lamont Goff, Ralph Goff and Ronald Goff; as well as her sisters Billie (Goff) Hackwell and Donna Mae (Goff) Langford.
Betty is survived by her husband Jerry Perkins and daughter Tamra Sanford, both of Yerington; son John B. Dolney of Elko, NV; and step-son Larry Perkins of Ely, NV; sisters Evelyn Yates, Geraldine Vest, and Vondell Whitlock all of Salt Lake City, UT; brothers Arthur Goff and Robert Goff of Elko, NV; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty loved her family above all else; and she enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She was always sharing food with others. She was a waitress and cook for many years and was known widely for her wonderful pies. Betty loved dancing in her early years and even taught herself how to Hula dance with all the hand motions, winning a dance contest with her Hula dance performance. She also enjoyed attending the Ham Chatter Amateur Radio group events.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church at the corner of West and Van Ness Streets in Yerington, NV. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall immediately after the service.
