SEPT. 23

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Tannie D. Bacon-Byrd age 49 of Ely was arrested for driving on right side required and D.U.I.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had gained access to her debit card information and had made a purchase without her permission. Her banking establishment was notified and a report was completed.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — The owner of the vehicle was contacted and advised to remove it from city property.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his camping sight and removed some items. Investigation is being conducted by U.S.F.S.

Report of counterfeit money — Reporting party stated that she had received a counterfeit bill at her place of employment. Officer examined the bill and reported that it was counterfeit. Investigation continues.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that a sheepherders dogs were on her property. The owner of the dogs was contacted and advised to have them removed.

Report of a theft of medication — Reporting party stated that her medication had been stolen from her motel room. Investigation continues.

Report of a trespasser — Reporting party stated that a vehicle had driven down his private roadway. The operator of the vehicle was contacted and advised not to use the roadway.

Report of possible child abuse  — Officer received a report of a parent who would punch his child when disciplining him. Officer investigated the incident and the allegation was unfounded.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that while her vehicle was parked at a local parking lot someone struck it with another vehicle. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. Investigation continues.

Report of a missing juvenile — The juvenile was located and returned home.

Report of a trash problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were throwing trash around his property. The juveniles were contacted along with their parents who cleaned up the trash.

Report of theft — Reporting party stated that someone had entered into his vehicle and stole several items. Investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jesse Pain age 35 of Spokane, WA was arrested for driving without a valid license and speeding in a school zone.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted several individuals who were looking for lizards. No crime had occurred.

Report of a death — Officer reported that John D. Rollins age 45 of Ely had died at a local motel where he had been living. Rollins was taken to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine his cause of death.

Report of an accident — Reporting party stated that someone had struck the awning at a local business causing damage to the awning. The striking vehicle had fled the scene.

Report of a disturbance — Reporting party stated that his neighbor plays his music to loud. The individual was contacted and issued a citation for disturbing the peace.

Report of welfare check — Officer received a report of a child playing with a phone and calling 911. Officer contacted the occupants at the home and located several items of drug paraphernalia along with a controlled substance. Officer arrested Tawna R. Mortensen age 52 of Ely. She was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia

SEPT. 25

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jennifer M. Christopher age 28 of Las Vegas, NV was arrested for driving suspended and basic speed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen his four wheeler along with a trailer that had a welder on it. He stated that these items were taken from his ranch in Pleasant Valley. Investigation continues.

Report of a welfare check — The children were contacted and were fine.

Report of a trespasser — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that no crime had occurred. The individuals involved are contesting ownership of the land in question.

Report of a private property accident — Gary Eversten of Spring Creek, NV was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see several barrier posts behind him. His vehicle struck the posts causing damage to it. An accident report was completed.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the day.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of a domestic battery that had taken place. During his investigation Preston Wisdom age 31 of Ely was arrested for domestic battery and convicted person failing to register. He is accused of battering his ex-girlfriend.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a female subject who was laying in the roadway naked. Officer contacted the female who was clothed. She stated that she had been drinking at home and she was fine. She was advised to stay at home.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that several juveniles were lighting things on fire in the roadway. The area was patrolled, but no juveniles were located.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individual and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a noise disturbance — Officer contacted a semi-truck driver who had his engine running and was parked in a residential neighborhood. He was advised to leave the area.

SEPT. 26

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the individual who was sleeping in her car. No crime had occurred.

Report of a welfare check — The area was patrolled, but the individual was not located.

Report of a fight — Reporting party stated that while at a local bar he had been struck by an unknown person. Officer investigated the incident and identified the suspect who had struck the reporting party. Officers are attempting to locate him.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that he leases a ranch and needed to gain access to one of the buildings to turn the water on. The person staying in that building wouldn’t let him inside. Both parties were contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that several windows had been broken out on one of the train cars. The incident was documented.

Report of a private property accident — Reporting party stated that a company vehicle had damaged his fence. The operator of the vehicle failed to notify the reporting party. Officer will contact the company and advise them of the problem.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that there is a discrepancy on her phone bill. The incident was documented and her provider was notified.

Report of a private property accident — Mark NcNutt of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him being operated by Lucy Berge of Ely. McNutt’s vehicle struck Berge’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of a broken water line — The report was given to the City of Ely Water Department.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer contacted the parties involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved separated for the night.

Report of a stolen vehicle — Officer spoke to the reporting party and reported that the vehicle was not stolen, just borrowed by a friend.

Report of a trespasser — Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that it was family members not getting along. They were advised of the trespass laws. No action was taken.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had stolen the air cleaner off his motorcycle. The incident was documented.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer located the vehicle and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the individuals involved who were having a party. They were advised to keep the peace.

Report of possible drug use — Officer contacted the individual who admitted to using a controlled substance. He was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report of a suspicious subject — Reporting party stated that she observed several people standing on her porch. She stated that they then ran off. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that several people had come to his home and were causing a disturbance. The individuals causing the disturbance had left the reporting parties home before officers arrived. Officer attempted to contact them, but they refused to open answer their door.

Report of a hit and run accident — Reporting party stated that while his vehicle was parked at a local parking lot another vehicle had backed into it causing damage. The striking vehicle had fled the scene. An accident report was completed.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of property damage — Officer received a report of someone damaging the Keystone Village which is used by the Nevada Northern Railroad. The individuals had broken the windows and the doors on the village, along with several Halloween decorations. Investigation continues.

Report of property damage — Officer received a report where several car tires had been punctured. During the officers investigation Benjamin M. Miller age 22 of Ruth was arrested for destruction of property, obstructing a police officer and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A local juvenile was also detained for the same charges. He was later released to a family member.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of several individuals arguing over property. Officer contacted the parties involved and the situation was resolved.

Report of a suspicious vehicle — Officer contacted the operators of the vehicles and reported that no crime had occurred.

Report of an accident — Officer reported that a local juvenile was operating an ATV when he lost control of it causing it to roll. The juvenile was taken to E.R. by ambulance.

SEPT. 28

Report of threats — The reporting party claimed to be receiving threats from her brother.  A report was completed and the reporting party was referred to Ely Justice court for a temporary protection order.

Report of a problem with a subject — Two people had been served with an eviction notice and were still present in the rental property.  Per the owner, they were allowed two additional hours to remove their property and leave.

Report of fraud — The reporting party claimed a subject acquired his personal information and made fraudulent purchases on his bank account.  A report was completed.

Report of property damage — The reporting party found an unknown subject had damaged property in his yard.  A report was completed.

Report of an accident — Scott Standfill, of Ely, was struck by a vehicle operated by Walter McLeod, of Alaska.  McLeod was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Report of a theft — The reporting party claimed a renter stole property from her rental property.  She was advised the issue was civil.

Report of a missing juvenile — The reporting party claimed his daughter was missing.  The girl was later located and released to her father.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed a male had been loitering near a local business.  Officers checked the area, but the male was gone.

Report of fraud — The reporting party was contacted by her bank and advised of unusual activity on her account.  The bank did not allow the transactions to go through.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The reporting party, who is over the age of 60, claimed to have been battered by a person he resides with and is related by marriage.  The suspect was located partially nude in a public area and claimed to not remember if she struck the reporting party.  The suspect, identified as 53 year old Loretta Rogan, of McGill, was arrested for domestic battery, elder abuse, and open and gross lewdness.

Report of shots fired — Deputies checked the area, but did not locate any disturbance.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed an unknown subject entered her residence and stole property.  The investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The reporting party claimed to have been stabbed by his brother.  The brother, identified as 31 year old Ely resident Walter Kennedy, was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon.

Report of a theft — The reporting party was house watching and discovered items missing from the home. The investigation continues.

SEPT. 29

Report of a disturbance — Officer received a report of an individual who was causing a disturbance at the hospital. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as Brian S. Boots age 41 of Ely. Boots was arrested for disturbing the peace.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had gained access to his debit card and had made several purchases. His banking establishment was notified and the incident was documented.

Report of suspicious circumstances — Reporting party stated that he observed an individual hiding bags of clothing under a bush. Officer contacted several individuals who were attempting to contact the owner of the clothing.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer received a report of a subject hanging around a business. The individual was contacted and identified as Rebecca Crutcher age 29 of Ely. Crutcher was arrested on an Ely Municipal Court warrant for contempt of court.

Report of a domestic disturbance — Officer received a report of an individual who had been battered. The reporting party stated that his step brother had battered him over a disagreement they had. Officer contacted the step brother and identified him as Tanner Jacobson age 19 of Ely. Jacobson was arrested for domestic battery.

Report of harassment — Reporting party stated that he is receiving unwanted telephone calls and text messages from an individual. The individual was contacted and advised to stop his contact with the reporting party.

Report of an open door — Officer received a report of an open door on a vacant home. The home was checked and the door secured.

Report of a problem with a child — Reporting party stated that she had an argument with her juvenile son and that he had exited their vehicle and refused to get back in. Officer contacted the parties involved and situation was resolved.

Report of someone in a vacant home — Officer searched the home and no one was located. The home was secured.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of several juveniles laying in the roadway. Officer contacted the juveniles who were playing hide and seek. They were advised to stay out of the roadway.

Report of a juvenile problem — Reporting party stated that his juvenile daughter had left the home without his permission. The juvenile was located and returned home.

Report of found property — Reporting party located a gun in the roadway. The gun was placed into lost and found.

Report of a custody problem — Reporting party stated that her daughter had been injured while she was visiting her father. The reporting party wanted the incident documented. A report was completed.
