Special to The Ely Times
White Pine Players Drama Club is preparing this school year’s first stage performance, 5 Nights of Frights. It will open on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. and continue Oct. 23, 24, 26 at 7 p.m. with matinee performances on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. The Friday matinee will be a Middle and High school performance with tickets at half price for those students.
The show is actually a series of five small plays, some spooky and some funny, and involves 32 actors along with several tech crew students. The author is Delanie Kay Tucker, who wrote the hilarious “Opening Night,” which the drama club was privileged to perform at State Thespian Festival a few years ago. This new performance offering will really intrigue and surprise the audience.
Kathy Tucker, director for the club, is excited to have so many new students involved in this show. “They are having a great time and really developing their abilities while getting some valuable on-stage experience,” says Tucker. “And we have several returning actors who are great about mentoring the new ones. That’s one of the great things about the educational theatre community; they’re always willing to give back.”
There are no reserved seats for this production. Tickets will be on sale at Economy Drug and at the door. Prices will be $8 for adults, $6 for students and $5 for children. Student tickets for the matinee can only be purchased from a drama club member or at the door. Don’t miss 5 Nights of Frights!
