Elaine Mandas, from Bellflower, California left this world on Friday, September 25, 2015 at home with her family by her side.  Elaine fought her battle with cancer right up to the end.   She was born to George and Wilma (Vasho) Mandas in McGill, Nevada on May 4, 1950.  The family moved to Bellflower when she was in the 10th grade.  She graduated from Bellflower High School and Cerritos College where she earned an Associated Degree in Business.

Elaine enjoyed being with her family more than anything else – whether it was attending the numerous weddings, births, baptisms, Greek Easter celebrations or just hanging out with her brothers and sisters. Elaine was loving, thoughtful and strong willed.

After working 30 years for West Electric Casing she retired and had more time to do scrapbooking, attend nephews’ football, soccer and hockey games.  She was able to watch her nieces’ ice skate, perform in plays, attend dance recitals and in her spare time she knit a blanket for each child born into the family.

Elaine was Greek Orthodox and was able to enjoy a trip to Greece with her siblings and visit her father’s hometown of Louka.

Predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by siblings Jim (Dwala) Mandas, Pete (Lindy) Mandas, Harry (Shelia) Mandas, Mary (Chris) Smyrniotis, Georgia Hatzidakis, John (Christy) Mandas and Mike (Angela) Mandas.  She leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as 48 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces.

A memorial service was held on October 1, 2015 at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Downey, California.
