White Pine County is conducting an up-to-date income survey for the communities of McGill and Ruth in order to qualify the areas for possible grant funding.  The last income survey for both McGill and Ruth were completed in 2000.  HUD (Housing and Urban Development) has provided a new formula to determine low and moderate income areas (LMI).

Using the 2000 census numbers, McGill and Ruth qualified.  Under HUD’s new formula to determine the low and moderate income areas, using the 2010 census numbers as instructed by HUD, neither community qualifies low to moderate income.  Because of changes that have occurred County-wide in both communities since the Census data was collected, there is a significant reason to question the Census data and to conduct a new income survey.

As a resident/property owner of McGill and Ruth, you will receive the income survey by mail.  White Pine County is asking that you complete the survey and send it back by November 30, 2015. Your name will not be used in the survey results and the information provided by you will be kept in the strictest confidence.

If you are a landlord, please give the survey to the household renting your property and ask that they complete it and mail it back by November 30, 2015.

If you should have questions, please feel free to call the White Pine County Community and Economic Development office at 775-293-6592.
