11-20 Sept. Elk StudentsGavin Rhett Henriod  and Mallory Moore have been named Junior Students of the Month for September, according to Ely Elks Lodge #1469.

Henriod, age 14, is the son of Scott and Tawnya  Henriod of Ely.   Moore, age 13, is the daughter of Lance and Nichole Moore of Ely.  Both are 8th graders at White Pine Middle School.

The Junior Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding students in the area.

Junior Students of the Month are selected by a panel of their peers in each participating school within the jurisdiction of the sponsoring lodge.

Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection of Junior Students of the Month.

Henriod has been active in WPMS basketball, track and soccer. He is a member of the WPMS Band and leadership class and has been President, 1st Counselor and Secretary of the Deacon’s Quorum.   He is also a Teacher’s Quorum member and a NDOW volunteer.  His hobbies are running, exercising, reading, hunting and camping.

Moore has been active in WPMS volleyball and basketball and is a member of the WPMS leadership team.  She is a member of the WPMS Student Council and President of the Steptoe Stockmen 4-H Club.   Moore is also the 1st Counselor of the Beehive McGill Young Women.  Her hobbies are volleyball, basketball, softball, reading, 4-H projects, archery, shooting, sports, baking, crafting and helping on the family ranch.
