ELY – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering the public the opportunity to adopt a foal gathered from the Water Canyon portion of the Antelope Herd Management Area in eastern Nevada. Nine weanlings and two yearlings are being held together at the National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley, north of Reno, Nev.
The horses are available for walk-up adoption from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays. All of the horses have received vaccinations and their bloodwork is completed. Brand inspections will be performed and health certificates issued on all adopted horses.
Pictures of the horses are available online on the BLM’s Flickr album “Water Canyon Foals Available for Adoption” at http://bit.ly/1N85QV1. Applications are available for download (.pdf) at http://on.doi.gov/1A0eAfw.

Damn BLM AND ALL YOU DO TO ANNIHILATE FREEDOM FOR AMERICANS WILD HORSES.
These fouls are amazing, are you also adopting out the Mares and stallions?
Gross! Leave the horses on public lands. Removing weanlings and youngsters not only destroys family bonds, it upsets the entire dynamic of the herd. It also artificially alters natural selection and puts herds at risk of losing genetic viability. Not to mention, the BLM has 50,000 other Mustangs in government holding that they can’t even adopt out. There are not enough homes or people equipped to care for a wild animal. I see Titled BLM Mustangs end up in kill pens frequently by owners who don’t want to or can’t care for them. It’s a legal loophole that allows federally protected wild mustangs to go to slaughter. As an American citizen and mustang enthusiast, I am fed up with the continued removals and mismanagement of America’s wild Mustangs. They are part of our heritage. They are loved and enjoyed by so many people and they deserve protection and respect on the range where they belong. I’m adamantly opposed to removals like this because they disrupt the natural order of the herds and weaken the herd by taking young, healthy horses out of the breeding pool. This is a huge problem that is made worse by these cruel and unnecessary removals.
THANK YOU MS. AMY LEUDERS FOR ALLOWING WALK UP ADOPTIONS. PLEASE HAVE MORE OF THESE TYPE OF WILD HORSE ADOPTIONS IN EACH STATE,FROM A HORSE LADY IN TEXAS WHO WOULD LOVE TO OWN ONE OF THEM BUT OWNS NO LAND..
I stand with you on this.
.Please stop these horrific roundups. They belong to ALL AMERICANS AND WE WANT THEM FREE@
Leave the horse’s alone. Period
Enough with the American people beloved wild . We demand the Safe Acted passed Change the laws in ppl . No more back yard breed in , The BLM needs ppl working for them need to.go to prison for neglectdoing round ups , Stop the PZP. Stop gilding our wild stallions . ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
These horses should be back out where they belong on their rightful public lands and adapting harmoniously to the ecosystem and part of their band and herd social structure. You are domesticating the wild horses. This is not what the Wild Free Roaming Horses and Burros Act intended! You should be employing Reserve Design for truly long term viable and naturally self stabilizing populations of wild horses that fill their niche. See http://www.gofundme.com/mre6gyv7
Leave our wild Mustangs alone.
People need to stop producing humans which is taking up land needing to build new suburbs and towns to house them. Which in turn takes away the land that these horses need to feed and reproduce on. Don’t change the eco system for the horses. Backyard breeders need to continue what they are doing so the horse population can grow bigger with unwanted horses that eat them out of house and home to the point that they are then abandoning these horses to live on their own or go to slaughter. Keep up the good work those who have never owned horses..but seem to fight to keep the over population of horses going since you don’t feed them.
