The White Pine High girls basketball split their road trip last week. On Friday, Jan. 8 they dominated Laughlin, 34-9. The Ladycats spread the scoring around with eight players contributing to the lopsided victory. Sophomore Britney Kingston grabbed eight rebounds, and the Ladycats defense shut out the Cougars in the first and third quarters.

They traveled to Needles (Calif.) the next day, but lost in a closely fought battle, 34-31.

Senior Ashlyn Huntington earned ten points and five rebounds, while senior Debra Kingston scored nine and blocked a shot.

After their first Division III Southern loss, the Ladycats stand in third place at 5-1, behind Lincoln County and Agassi Prep who are tied atop the standings with 6-0 records. Overall, the girls are 13-4. They host Agassi Prep, Saturday Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. and travel to play Lincoln County on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m.
