The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is inviting all local area middle school and high School students to enter the 2016 Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Scholarship competition and the Patriotic Art Contest.
The theme for the VOD essay is “My Responsibility to America.” It’s open to all 9th to 12th grade students. The essay must be a 3-5 minute audio recording.
The Patriot’s Pen competition is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The written essay must be 300-400 words in length and reflect the theme “The America I believe In.”
The essay deadlines are November 2016.
The Patriotic Art Contest is open to high school students only. The deadline is March 31st for all art projects. There is no theme, but should be patriotic in its depiction.
All entries must be original and created in 2016 and reflect the theme designated.
