The Ely Art Bank held an open house last week for the Third Annual Student Art Show. Art instructor Rose Mehlhaff works with the students teaching different art medium including drawing in pencil, charcoal and pastels. Some of the students are first year students and some are in their third year of class. All the students work together critiquing and making suggestions so the work becomes a more visual piece with more self-expression while the students learn more technique. The Student Art Show will be on display from May 6 through May 22. Thanks to Jennifer Messina, Ely Art Bank volunteer, and Rose Mehlhaff for putting together the show.
Thanks also to the WPHS Culinary class and their instructor Megan Wright for the delicious appetizers served at the open house. These not only looked great, but were tasty as well.
Also on display at the Ely Art Bank is the Nevada Arts Council exhibit entitled “Panorama,” which is the third in a series of exhibits showcasing the recipients of the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Award in the visual arts, Panorama: Selections from the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Fellowship Program features exceptional artists and brings Nevada’s statewide artist landscape into view. Each contributing fellow has demonstrated mastery of process and medium in producing a significant body of work.
This display will be here until June 10.
The Art Bank hours are Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
