The White Pine girls track team won their fourth consecutive Division III state track title last Saturday in Carson City.

The team scored 197 points to eaßßßßßsily outdistance North Tahoe with 132 points.

Madison Rick won three events, and with the Fullmer sisters, swept the High Jump. Lucy and Lily went 1-2, with Lucy taking first place on fewer misses. Then the two ran second and third in the 100 meter hurdles. Mikinley Prengel was second in two events. The girls 4×200 relay team of Lucy Fullmer, Hannah Barber, Samantha Gamberg and Madison Rick set a new meet record in the event.

On the boys side, Sam Stewart won both the 1600 and 3200 meter races to help the Bobcats earn 28 points for fourth place in the team standings. The White Pine boys were last state track champions in 1942 when all schools competed under one classification.

Coach Justin Locke said about the girls fourth state title, “I think the fine athletes that we have and they have bought into what we have as a philosophy and come to work hard every day. Since they’ve been doing that, things have just been taking care of themselves with the accolades we’ve been getting.”
