Special to the Times

This annual train ride takes passengers on a trip back in time aboard a steam locomotive to the copper mine and then back to Ely for the best vantage point for the Ely fireworks display. The event is held July 4 in celebration of Independence Day.

“The July 4 Train is a spectacular way to celebrate Independence Day,” said Mark Bassett, executive director of the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. “Enjoying a train ride before the Ely fireworks show is something you can only experience here at the Nevada Northern Railway.”

The train departs at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $35 for adults and $18 for children (4-12).

The July 4 Fireworks Train is just one of the exciting events that happen in Ely during the Fourth of July. For other events going on over the holiday, visit elynevada.net or whitepinechamber.com.
