August 9

Report of an alarm — The alarm was false.

Report of an alarm — It was discovered the alarm was malfunctioning.

Report of a problem with a subject  — The reporting party claimed he was being followed. The claim was unfounded.

Report of vandalism — The reporting party discovered a vehicle that had been vandalized. The investigation continues.

Report of a barking dog — The deputy attempted to contact the owner, but was unable to locate her.

Report of a theft —The reporting party discovered an unknown subject had stolen several items from his trailer. The investigation continues.

Report of an arrest — Sean Michael Gruda, 30, of Ely, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Report of a problem with a subject  — The reporting party was unhappy with a local business and felt there was a conflict of interests between the business and one of their customers.

Report of fireworks — No fireworks were located in the area.

Report of a domestic disturbance — The parties were contacted and officers were unable to determine the dominant physical aggressor. A report will be submitted to the city attorney for possible prosecution.

Report of a problem with a subject — The subject left without incident.

Report of a stolen vehicle — The reporting party claimed her juvenile grandson stole her vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered, along with the grandson, in another jurisdiction.

Report of a stolen vehicle — The reporting party claimed his vehicle had been stolen. It was discovered the city of Ely had deemed the vehicle part of a violation of accumulating debris and was lawfully towed. The issue was deemed civil.

Report of a problem with a subject — The reporting party claimed his estranged wife had taken some of his property. It was also learned he has a protection order against her. The investigation continues.

Report of a search and rescue — The subject was found and was in good health.

Report of a hit and run — Victor Lara-Dominguez, of Wells, struck a parked vehicle and fled. He was later located and issued a citation for hit and run, failure to report an accident, and no proof of insurance.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was located and was fine.

Report of harassment — The reporting party claimed to be harassed at work by a former employee. The former employee was located and advised not to return.

Report of theft — The reporting party claimed a subject stole his property. The subject was contacted and claimed the property belonged to him. Investigation continues.

Report of a welfare check — The subject was contacted and was fine.

Report of a problem with a subject — The problem subject was no longer a problem when officers arrived.

Report of a burglary — The reporting party claimed someone broke into their home and stole several items. The investigation continues.

Report of a music disturbance — The suspect turned the music down when asked by officers.

Report of a welfare check —The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a stolen bicycle — Reporting party stated that his child came home with a bike that didn’t belong to him. During the officer’s investigation, it was determined that the bike had been stolen. The owner of the bike will be contacted and notified and a report was sent to Juvenile Probation.

Report of an illegally parked trailer — The trailer was tagged for removal.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had shot several windows on his home with a BB gun. Investigation continues.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that an individual had stolen a flash drive from the library. Officers are attempting to locate the individual.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer made contact with the individual and identified her as Dawna M. Cain, 55, of Ely. Cain was arrested for a probation violation.

Report of fireworks — The area was patrolled, but the fireworks were not located.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a suicidal subject — Officer contacted the individual who was taken to E.R. for medical assistance.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an elderly male who had fallen out of bed and needed assistance.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer contacted the individual and reported that the person was walking home.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that someone had thrown a gallon of milk at her car causing the windshield to break. The incident was documented.

Report of a disturbance — Officer located a music disturbance at a local home. The occupants were advised of the complaint and turned the music down.

Report of a private property accident — Emily Munk of Ely was operating a vehicle and was pulling into a local parking lot. Les Staples of Ely was operating a vehicle and was backing up from a parked position. Staples failed to see Munk causing an accident. An accident report was completed.

Report of a public nuisance — Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised him to clean up the trash and remove it.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a dead skunk — The skunk was removed from the roadway.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his neighbor ran over their basketball. The neighbor was contacted and said he didn’t know he had ran over the ball. He advised he would replace it.

Report of child abuse — Reporting party stated that he child was being abused by his father. The abuse had occurred in another city. The reporting party was advised on how to make the report to the proper jurisdiction.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that her neighbor was yelling at her children. Officer attempted to contact the neighbor, but no one would answer the door.

Report of a missing person — The individual was located and returned home.

Report of a public nuisance — Officer contacted the occupant of the home and advised him to clean up the dog feces and remove it.

Report of an accident — Officer reported that a truck had struck a cable line causing it to fall to the ground. The operator of the truck was contacted along with the owner of the cable. An accident report was completed.

Report of a death — Officer received a report of a fire fighter that had been killed while fighting the fire at the Great Basin National Park. Officer reported that the individual was identified as Justin R. Beebe, 26, of Bellows Falls Vermont. Officer reported that his preliminary investigation determined that a snag or top of a tree had fallen and struck Beebe in the head. Beebe was transported to the Clark County Coroner’s Office to determine his cause of death.

Report of vandalism — Officer received a report of several juveniles throwing paint. The juveniles, who had thrown paint in an alleyway, were contacted. Their parents were contacted and the incident was documented.

Report of a reckless driver — The area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

Report of a battery — Reporting party stated that he was arguing with an individual when the individual struck him in the face causing damage to his jaw. Investigation continues.

AUGUST 14 

Report of a barking dog — Officer located the dogs but the owner was not at home. Contact with the owner will be made at a later date.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Cody A. Nelson, 22, of Eureka, was arrested for failure to maintain lane of travel and DUI.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual who had received facial injuries. Officer contacted the individual who was uncooperative with law enforcement. The individual left the area with a family member.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of several dogs in the back of a truck and the dogs were lunging at people. The owner of the dogs removed them from the area.

Report of a dog problem — Officer received a report of a dog that had bitten a child. The dogs involved were running at large. The area was patrolled, but the dogs were not located.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and he was taken to ER by ambulance.

AUGUST 15  

Report of suspicious circumstances  — Officer received a report of an individual who appeared to be restrained inside a vehicle. Officer contacted the individuals involved and reported that no problems were located.

Report of a juvenile problem — Officer received a report of a juvenile who had left home without permission. The juvenile was located along with an adult who had provided him transportation. The adult was issued a citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and the juvenile was returned home.

Report of a suspicious subject — Officer received a report of an individual loitering around a closed business. The area was patrolled, but no one was located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a parking problem — Officer received a report of a vehicle that was blocking a driveway. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and she removed it from the area.

Report of property damage — Reporting party stated that one of her windows on her residence had been broken. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that someone had removed a car port from his residence. Investigation continues.

Report of a civil problem — Reporting party stated that several people are living in a home that she had rented to another person. The reporting party was advised to obtain an eviction notice and have the subject evicted.

Report of a suspicious subject — The individual was contacted and was waiting for assistance from a family member, due to his vehicle had ran out of gas.

Report of an accident — Officer received a report of a vehicle that had ran off the roadway. During the officer’s investigation, William R. Gergen, 35, of Ely, was arrested. Gergen was arrested for driving suspended and D.U.I.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that someone had attempted to file an unemployment claim in his name. The incident was documented.

Report of a dog problem — Reporting party stated that a dog had possibly killed one of his chickens. Officer contacted the owner of the dog and advised him of the complaint. He denied the allegation.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of an individual who had caused a disturbance at a local apartment. During the officer’s investigation, the individual was contacted and identified as Daniel N. Wheeler, 31, of Ely. Wheeler was arrested for D.U.I. # 2

Report of a welfare check — Officer received a report of an indidvual camping in the Ely area who hasn’t returned home at the designated time. Officers will check the area to see if he is still camping in the area.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.
