August 12

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a parking problem — Reporting party stated that someone had parked a vehicle on his property. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and the vehicle was removed.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and was fine.

Report of a stranded hunter — Officer received a report of an individual who was out hunting and had gotten his vehicle stuck in a dry creek bed. Search and Rescue was called out and located the individual. He was provided assistance

Report of an accident — Ali Bybee, of Ely, was operating a vehicle traveling east on Ave I at the intersection of 9th Street. Saxtyn Brewster, of Ely, was operating a vehicle traveling east on 9th Street. Bybee failed to yield the right of way to Brewster causing an accident. Bybee was issued a citation for failure to yield. An accident report was completed.

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that someone had attempted to gain access to his neighbor’s home. Officer reported that someone had pried on the door to the home, but didn’t gain access. A report was completed.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that John Saites, 54, of Stateline Nev., was arrested on a felony warrant issued out of the state of California.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that he is selling an item on the Internet. He stated that an individual sent him a check to purchase the item, but the check was over the purchase amount. The reporting party was advised that it was a scam and to stop contact with the reported purchaser.

Report of a disturbance — Officer received a report of an individual causing a disturbance. Officer contacted the individual and identified him as Luke L. Thompson, 40, of Ely. Thompson was arrested for disturbing the peace. When Thompson was taken to the Public Safety Building for booking, he was also accused of damaging jail property and injury to property.

Report of fireworks — The area was patrolled, but no fireworks were located.

Report of an alarm — False alarm.

Report of a welfare check — Officer patrolled the area, but the individual was not located.

Report of counterfeit money —Reporting party stated that she had received some money for payment of goods, but believes the money is counterfeit. Officer inspected the money and reported that it was legal tender.

Report of dogs at large — The area was patrolled, but the dogs were not located.

Report of a disturbance — Officer received a report of an individual who had caused a disturbance at a local business. The parties involved were contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of a dog problem — The report was given to Ely Animal Control.

Report of property damage —Reporting party stated that someone had damaged her vehicle. The reporting party had to take her vehicle to a repair shop to get it repaired, due to someone messing with the fuel system. A report was completed.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that she had rented a room to an individual and now the person wanted their money back due to a strange odor in the room. Officer contacted the parties involved and a mutual agreement was obtained between the parties involved.

Report of barking dogs — The owner of the dogs was contacted and advised of the problem.

Report of an injured deer — Officer located a deer that had been struck by a vehicle. The deer was removed from the roadway.

Report of a problem with a subject — Reporting party stated that his neighbor’s sprinklers are on too high and the water hits the door to his home. Officer attempted to contact the neighbor, but no one was home.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jessica A. Barnes, 27, of McGill, was arrested for driving suspended, suspended registration, DUI drugs, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Report of dogs at large — Officer contacted the reporting party who indicated her neighbor’s dogs run at large. The incident was documented.

Report of a welfare check — The individual was contacted and requested no assistance.

Report of a reckless driver — Reporting party stated that he observed an individual operating a vehicle who did not stop for a posted stop sign. Investigation into the incident continues.

Report of a problem with a subject — Officer received a report of a parent who was having problems with his juvenile daughter. The father of the juvenile had attempted to take the juvenile home due to her behavior he didn’t approve of. The juvenile fled from the father. The parties involved were contacted and the incident was resolved.

Report of a citizen assist — Officer assisted an individual who had fallen inside his home and was unable to get up. Assistance was provided.

Report of a welfare check — Officer contacted the children and reported that they were fine.

Report of property damage — Officer contacted the reporting party who stated that one of their road construction signs had been damaged. The incident was documented.

Report of a suicidal subject — Officer located the individual who denied that he had made any threats about hurting himself. The incident was documented.

Report of a custody problem — Officer reported that the parents of a child were arguing over child custody. D.C.F.S. was contacted and the situation was resolved.

Report of a dead dog in the roadway — The deceased dog was located and removed from the roadway. It had been struck by a vehicle.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jasmine L. Bishop, 24, of Ely, was arrested on an Ely District Court warrant. During her arrest she was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Report of an arrest — Officer reported that Jason C. Lassley, 35,  of Ely, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance for sale, manufacturing a controlled substance, and ex-felon failure to change address.

Report of a fraud — Reporting party stated that he had received a phone call from an individual claiming to be from the power company. The caller stated that if he didn’t pay his power bill, his power would be turned off. The reporting party was advised it was a fraud and the incident was documented.

Report of a burglary — Reporting party stated that his ex-girlfriend had entered into his home and removed several items. The incident was determined to be a civil problem.

Report of an accident — The report was given to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Report of a sexual assault — Officer reported that the incident was investigated and determined to be unfounded.

Report of a domestic disturbance —  Officer contacted the parties involved and reported that it was a verbal argument. The parties agreed to separate for the night.

Report of a scam — Reporting party stated that he received a phone call from an individual claiming that his grandson was in trouble and needed money. The reporting party sent the money to the caller. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and that his money would not be recovered.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that several items were stolen from her yard sale. The incident was documented.

Report of a scam —  Reporting party stated that he received a phone call from an individual claiming to be from the power company. The caller threatened to turn off the power if he didn’t pay the overdue bill. The reporting party was advised it was a scam and to discontinue any contact with the caller.

Report of shots fired — Officer contacted the individual who was target practicing.

Report of an arrest —  Officer reported that Michael S. Shadix, 41, of Ely, was arrested on an Ely Justice Court warrant.

Report of a stolen vehicle — Officer contacted the reporting party and during his investigation, it was determined the vehicle was not stolen. The situation was determined to be a civil problem.

Report of an ATV disturbance —  Reporting party stated that several ATV’S were being operated by her home, causing a disturbance. Officer contacted the juveniles and their parents and advised them of the problem.

Report of a private property accident —  Robert Pescio, of Ely, was operating a vehicle and was backing up. He failed to see a vehicle behind him being operated by Linda Morrow, of Bellvue, Colo. Pescio’s vehicle struck Morrow’s vehicle causing damage. An accident report was completed.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted one of the parties involved who had confronted an individual over a stolen bicycle. The incident was documented.

Report of a barking dog — Officer reported that the owner of the dog was issued a citation for barking dog.

Report of a possible drunk driver — Officer contacted the operator of the vehicle and reported that he was not intoxicated. The operator was warned about his driving behavior.

Report of a fight — Officer contacted the parties involved who had been in an argument over the theft of a tablet. Investigation into the theft continues.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted the occupant of the home who was playing his music too loud. He was advised to turn his music down.

Report of an accident — David Steiner, of Ely, was operating a motorcycle when a dog ran out into the roadway causing him to strike the dog. The dog ran off to a nearby residence. Steiner indicated there was damage to his motorcycle. A report was completed.

Report of a theft — Reporting party stated that she had accidently left her wallet at a local store. The wallet was turned into the store manager but money was missing from the wallet. A report was completed.

Report of a disturbance — Officer contacted an individual who was playing his music too loud. He was advised to turn it down.
