REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer contacted the individual and reported that she was fine.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT: Rocky Jones of Lund was operating a vehicle traveling on US 6 when a deer entered into the roadway striking her vehicle. Her vehicle sustained damage. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE: The dog was contained and taken to the Ely Animal Control Building.

REPORT OF LOST AND FOUND BIKES: City — the bikes were collected and placed into lost and found. Serval hours later the owner of the bikes identified them and they were returned to him.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK: City — officer checked on the child and reported that he was fine.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSIST: Officer assisted an elderly female who had fallen in her home and was unable to get up. Assistance was provided.

REPORT OF A BAD CHECK: City — reporting party stated that she had received a check at her place of employment for services provided. The check was returned from the bank due to insufficient funds. The check will be forwarded to the City Attorney for collections.

REPORT OF A TRESPASSER: City — reporting party stated that an individual was at his home and he wanted her removed. Officer reported that when he arrived at the scene the individual was not present. The parties involved were contacted and advised to stay away from each other.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT: City — officer received a report of an indidvual who was causing a disturbance. Officer reported that he located one of the individuals in and about a roadway. The indidvual was contacted and identified as Sara Reyes age 55 of Reno, NV. Reyes was arrested for intoxicated person in the roadway.

OCTOBER 4

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECT:City – the occupant of the vehicle was contacted and was found to be sleeping in the vehicle.REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK:The subject was located and was fine.

REPORT OF A SHOPLIFTER:City – a juvenile was discovered attempting to leave a local business with ware or goods without paying.  The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to her adult sister.  A report was completed and will be forwarded to Juvenile Probation.REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE:City – the reporting party claimed her boyfriend, identified as 41 year old Ely resident Shannon Michael Shadix,  had battered her.  Shadix had fled the area prior to law enforcement arrival.  Deputies were later called back to the residence in regards to a fight.  Upon arrival, they learned Shadix had battered a co-habitant of the residence and had kept the reporting party from leaving the residence.  Shadix had again fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival, but was found hiding nearby.  Shadix was taken into custody without incident.

REPORT OF AN ARREST:37 year old Ely resident Keith Miller was arrested at his residence on an outstanding Ely Justice court warrant.REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:The reporting party believed someone was living in a vacant house without the owner’s permission.  The house was checked and no one was found inside.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER:City – the vehicle couldn’t be located.REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT:City – Michayla Cessford, of Ely, didn’t see a light pole and struck it, causing damage to her vehicle.  A report was completed.

OCTOBER 6

REPORT OF A FATAL ACCIDENTOfficer received a report of an individual who had been operating a side by side utility vehicle on the Pleasant Valley Road and during the course of the operation the vehicle rolled. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Michael D. Peterson age 49 of Las Vegas. Due to injuries Peterson sustained during the accident he died at the scene. The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office.

REPORT OF A DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE City — officer contacted the parties involved and during their investigation Mandi Oliver age 23 of Preston was arrested. Oliver was arrested for domestic battery. She is accused of battering a family member.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — reporting party stated that an individual came into his place of work and was complaining about an item he had purchased. The individual was claiming the items he had purchased was not working properly. The reporting party stated that he felt threatened by the individual. The individual was contacted and trespassed from the business.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECTCity — officer contacted the individuals involved who had engaged in a verbal argument. The parties involved were separated and advised to have no contact with each other.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGEReporting party stated that someone had thrown an apple at his vehicle. When the apple struck the vehicle it caused to it. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A CITIZEN ASSISTCity — officer received a report of an elderly female who had fallen in her home and was unable to get up. Officer assisted her in getting up. REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTOfficer contacted the individual who was digging a drainage ditch. No problems were reported.

REPORT OF A PUBLIC NUISANCE Officer reported that several unregistered vehicles were located parked on a public roadway. They were tagged for removal.

REPORT OF AN ARREST City — officer reported that William R. Gergen age 35 of Ely was arrested for driving suspended.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS SUBJECTCity — officer contacted the individual who was shopping in the area. No problems were reported.

REPORT OF A CITIZENS ASSISTCity — officer assisted an individual in his home who was having problem reaching his oxygen. Assistance was provided.

REPORT OF A DOG AT LARGE Officer reported that the owner of the dog secured it in their home before he arrived

REPORT OF A THEFT Reporting party stated that he took his vehicle to a local repair shop and the mechanics stole his keys he had left in the vehicle. Investigation continues.

REPORT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE

Reporting party stated that someone had shot his water tank he using to water his livestock. A report was completed.

REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE City — the vehicle was located and officers reported that no problems were reported.

REPORT OF A DEER IN THE ROADWAY City — officer reported that a deer had been struck and killed by a motorist on Aultman Street. The deer was removed from the roadway. The striking vehicle had fled the scene.

REPORT OF AN OPEN DOOR City — officer received a report of an open door on an ATM machine. No problems were located and the door was secured.

REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER City — officer reported that the area was patrolled, but the vehicle was not located.

REPORT OF A PROBLEM WITH A SUBJECT Reporting party stated that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend was sending the reporting party nude pictures of her daughter and claiming to post them on line. Officer advised the reporting party of the laws pertaining to this incident and advised her to have her daughter file a complaint with the Sheriff’s Office.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT City — officer received a report of a vehicle that had struck a fence and the driver was not on scene. During the officers investigation the operator of the vehicle was located at a local motel. He was identified as Steven Swanger of Tuson, AZ. Swanger had struck the fence with his vehicle in the early morning hours and had abandoned his vehicle. He was issued a citation for hit and run property damage and immediate notification to police.

REPORT OF A WELFARE CHECK City — the individual was contacted and was fine.

REPORT OF A JUVENILE PROBLEM Officer received a report of several juveniles digging holes and building bicycle jumps on another person’s property. The juveniles and a parent were contacted and they agreed to level the property back to it original appearance.

REPORT OF THREATS Reporting party stated that she is receiving text messages and phone calls from her ex-boyfriend that are threatening. Officer is attempting to locate the ex-boyfriend, Investigation continues.

REPORT OF AN INJURED DOG City — reporting party stated that he had struck a dog with his vehicle, due to it running into the roadway. The owner of the dog was contacted who was aware of the dog’s injuries. A report was completed.

REPORT OF AN ACCIDENT City — officer received a report of a fence that had been damaged. During his investigation it was determined that a child had been driving a golf cart and had struck the fence causing the damage. The parents of the child were contacted and agreed to pay for the damages.

REPORT OF POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE City — officer received a report of a child who had an injury to the inside of his mouth. The child had received medical attention at the hospital. Officer reported that the child was being watched by a babysitter when the injury occurred.  Investigation into the incident continues.

REPORT OF FOUND CONTRABAND City —reporting party stated that she had repossessed a vehicle and located a controlled substance inside the car. The items were collected and disposed of.

REPORT OF AN ARREST City — officer reported that Mara L. Vasquez age 34 of Ruth was arrested on a Ely Municipal Court warrant.
