Mt. Wheeler Power released the following statement: All Cooperative Members served from Mt. Wheeler Power’s Gonder Substation, including The Communities of Ely, McGill, Ruth, Cherry Creek, Lund , Duckwater , Railroad Valley, Nyala,Baker, Garrison, Eskdale, and Ibapah were all affected by the outage caused by a “Relay Failure” on a breaker at the substation last night. The cause for the fault back to the breaker leading to the relay failure is still being investigated. The outage occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. with most members having their power restored between 10:50-11:00 p.m., with the exception being those members served from the Baker Substation, Crews began patrolling to search for a cause and damage, service to those members was restored at approximately 4:30 a.m..
These events are inconvenient. The process to restore power, especially in large area outages like the one that occurred last evening, is very precise and requires a degree of due diligence and investigation before power can even begin to be restored, We truly appreciate the patience and support of our members.
